General Health Regimine....
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:32:45 PM »
One of my friends just had a kidney fail (non bodybuilder, female) and is about to start dialysis.  Just made me think that here I am doing a lot of gear, hgh, insulin, and eating like a gorilla...and other than getting bloodwork every 3 months (which is usually ok...blood pressure is always high).  I was thinking of adding in a little regimine....

what are the top 5 things I should be doing?

Donating blood?
Grapefruit (for eating/drinking, not pulling a Kai)
Asprin?
Fish Oils?

All ideas are welcome...

honestly, the more i see... the more I believe it all comes down to genetics.

if your dad/grandpa smoked like chimneys and drank every day of their lives, I doubt running some cycles is going to wreck you.   On the other hand, if both parents suffered heart disease in early 40s, then yeah, blood pressure would be extremely alarming.

If you're taking a daily aspirin, fish oil, vitamins B, C, E, maybe cranberry... eating clean, drinking a gallon of water, and above all, not stressing things all that much, you're probably fine.

BC and E in a mulit (like Orange Triad) good enough?

Genetics are against me....lots of cancer and high blood pressure.

Cardio!!!!!

45-60 minutes everyday will go a long way, one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Besides that, eat many different fruits and vegetables everyday, don't eat too much in general, stay at as low a bodyweight as you're comfortable with (ie: lean out fatso), minimize stress from outside sources, and keep a positive outlook on things.

Any of these will do way more for your health than any supplement could ever do

I was very religious with Cardio for a long time, and got in good shape as far as that goes.

I recently switched to the 15 minute HIT routine that Layne Norton recommends, daily. Do you think that's as beneficial as far as "health" goes?

Well, it seems like longer sessions of steady-state cardio are the best workouts for "heart-health".... five 30 minute sessions/week is a good place to start.

But really, the best kind of cardio is the one you're most likely to do.... so if you prefer HIT, go for it 8)

You're heading down the same path of kidney failure if you don't control your blood pressure - get specialist medical help and don't be a dickhead by seeking this advice from a gossip and opinion bb message board. HTH?

Didn't realise you needed dialysis when you only had one kidney fail, dont most people who donate a kidney lead normal lives with just one?

Yes, if you're not able to get cardio in range with lifestyle modifications get on BP meds.  Don't fuck around with that

Fella might have inherent cardiac or cholesterol issues causing the elevated BP that may not be picked up by the MD. Not immediately dealing with this relatively basic issue = fail

Well I'm bulking for the first time in 3 years at the moment and I'm banging my head against the wall at this point trying to gain some more size.  The plan is to bulk until September and then start prepping for a spring 2015 show.  I could add in more veggies....I'm already eating a couple cups of berries, pineapple, and 2-3 bananas a day.

When they do my bloods they always say, "Well, blood pressure is a little high...lets keep an eye on that."  I'm usually 140-150/90-100.  I've thought of adding a half Cialis everyday to knock it down.

Her other kidney is at like 80% or something which is why they're doing it.

Would the cardio even matter if I added in more calories to cancel it out?  I really want to grow.

Cholesterol has always been good (after a 4 week cruise).  What other markers should I pay attention to?

you should be considering taking less drugs, and making your health a priority over bodybuilding.
