Bitcoin price up 40% in the past 24 hours, just as predicted. Never buy into the hype of mainstream media. The price of bitcoin is going a lot higher.

Here is a good site for tracking crypto currency movement:

The world central bankers in conjunction with your government are working on the theft of your 401ks. As the great George Carlin said "they're coming for your retirement money, they want it all and they'll get it". It would be prudent to diversity in items like real estate, bitcoin, gold and silver.

MtGox is out of business which is a relief for the bitcoin community. Bitcoin can now contiune its upward climb now that the cancer known as Gox is gone. Serious investors pulled their money and coins off Gox months ago. Also, I have been mining a new alt coin called Bitcoin Scrypt, similar to bitcoin. The Chinse seem to like it. I have made over 500 percent profit on it in the past week. Currently, you can convert a fraction of a cent into full units of Bitcoin Scrypt. We're on the edge of a new horzizon. This is about bitcoin the protocol, not bitcoin the currency. The people with intuitive insight will be made very wealthy. Good luck to you guys flipping stocks in a market on the edge of collapse. Bitcoin will save the world.

You see the ignorance being engendered by media coverage of cryptocurrencies -- look at the responses in this thread. The problem is that this coverage might be sufficient to permanently scare away the masses such that widespread adoption -- whether of bitcoin itself or a cryptocurrency derived from its protocol -- never occurs.

Also, I'd say bitcoin "saving the world" is a bit hyperbolic; let's not overstate the case to be made, yeah?

Because people drove up the price through speculation.

Just buy penny stocks.  Much cheaper with greater upside potential.   ::)

Whatever can be created with a keystroke, can be deleted with a keystroke.

Bitcoin and crypto-currencies are a Ponzi/fad... just like tulip bulbs, pet rocks, mood rings, baseball cards, beanie babies, dot.com stocks, etc...  The first people in at the beginning make all the money, the last people in are the bag holders.

I do agree about the 401k confiscation though.
