Stan's physique looks much better than the compacted 212 guys. Most start to look like smaller Branch W. but not Stan.

wouldn't his 'pro status' as a bodybuilder preclude him from competing as an amateur again?

I would think if he wanted a pro card as a MPD guy, they'd just give it to him.

same with masters I'd assume.. or women going from fitness to figure.

That's cause his physique is more in lines of the old school bbing, classic lines, shape , "pretty physique" but if he plays the size game his frame can't hold the mass like a flex lewis, Henry and even a Jose

Plus he has longer limbs and structure has the illusion of looking less "midget" as gb calls it ;D he's also "taller" than most 212 competitors

I trained between Venice golds and powerhouse chatsworth (Stan's gym) for many yrs, Stan's physique might not win many titles in today's bbing criteria but imo it is one of the best esp when he competed as an amateur 176 Ibs

I agree, he looks amazing, but put him in the opened class against the top 10 ifbb pros, and he won't even be placed.  Heck, put him in the 212 class against flex and henry.  Bodybuilding is a dead career unless you can be placed top 10 in the opened or top2 in the 212.  More opportunites like modeling, movies, supplement sponsorship in the men's physique shows and you don't even have to place first in the shows, I do hate sayng this because bodybuilding has gone away from its glory days, but the only future for guys like stan is not in the bodybuilding competitive scene, though he should be what bodybuilders should look like, but its all a size game.  Also, he is def not natty.

Stan McQuay is going to have a tough time in this lineup, but still, kudos on competing in the first Arnold Classic 212lbs and under contest.  I hope he makes the top six!
