No, his hate has much deeper roots.

Mccain was captured in Vietnam and kept as war prisoner. Let's bear in mind Soviet Union's KGB was the main instructor of Vietnam during the day. They provided intelligence, advice etc.
Putin represents everything John hates: former KGB officer, committed to re-create strong Russia etc.

Here we can see some Soviet advisers posing with Vietnamese in front of Soviet supplied air defence missile  8)

So John McCain wants to fight alongside terrorists in Syria just to get back at Putin?  :-X

The U.S destabilizing yet another country to try install a puppet Government to do their bidding.  This is a U.S lead coup, period.  Putin out maneuvered Obama on Syria, so Obama has moved the proxy war to the Ukraine.  Cold war 2.0, but if this continues, we could be looking at a hot war soon.

Pretty much - they're getting heat from east and west.
Lots of hired guns on both sides.

The US Economy can collapse all day long. That still wouldn't be the spark.

In order for people to get out into the streets and actually do some kind of violent protest against the government there would have to be empty shelves at the local grocery store, tv/internet service would have to be interrupted.

That shit would last for a couple of days and then all the protestors would be considered domestic terrorists and throw into FEMA prisons to rot for a while and then trying to fight cases against the federal government. The rest would be mowed down by our military.

Simpletons can't fathom American military killing its own citizens. And they're right.
The media/government would label these citizens as terrorists and then all bets are off.
People would have no problem killing terrorists.

Look what happened in Boston after marathon bomber. Martial law was created. Without warrants cops swept every house with minimal protest. People took that right up their ass.

For the few that have the intelligence to actually make a half assed attempt at succeeding, the government would just cut off their way of communicating via text/cell/internet. Then it would be all over.

Good post...where I disagree is that I'm more scared of Federal and state law enforcement then the US military turning on its citizens.

On Ukraine, Putin holds all the cards and dictates the timetable

If Russia invades Ukraine, the timing may be determined by the situation on the ground in Moscow more than the streets of Kiev and Simferopol.

By Anshel Pfeffer   | Feb. 27, 2014 | 9:03 PM

When will we know the Russians have invaded Ukraine? We won’t. Unlike the summer of 2008 when paratroop brigades crossed the border into Georgia’s sovereign territory under the pretext of aiding the Ossetian minority, marines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are already stationed on Ukrainian soil. The agreement between the two countries not only allows warships to be based at the port of Sevastopol, but also for Russian military vehicles to traverse the Crimean peninsula.

Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov did call upon the Kremlin not to allow its forces to leave the naval base, but an armored convoy had already travelled the 80 kilometers between Sevastopol and the regional capital Simferopol, stopping outside the town at a traffic police checkpoint. As it is, the Russians do not recognize Turchynov and his interim government. With perfect timing, Russian television broadcast Thursday morning the first statement by deposed president Viktor Yanukovych since he fled Kiev last weekend. The mystery of his whereabouts is over: He succeeded somehow in crossing over to Russia, which has given him sanctuary and from there he is questioning the legitimacy of those who currently – barely – hold power.

I think he is just stuck in the past. As is Putin himself to some degree. And many other politicians their age - especially those with military or intelligence background for obvious reasons.
McCain seems to hate communism from his heart. Assad's Syria is basically the last relic of "Socialist Arab proxys". It was very close to USSR back in the day. He wants it gone.
As if it would matter in todays world anyways. Communism has been dead for decades now. But I think it's the ghost of it that is in his head.
Plus he's somewhat a showman. And sure, he sees it possible and justified to make sure Russia never gains back its influence.

Well, I was very happy Putin saved the US from intervening.  8)

I assume those are Russian Marines...or "Russian Naval Infantry" at the airport. Their uniforms are different then the Army...with the newer helmets. That place will be a goldmine for a collector.

Interesting to see if this shit gets away from Putin.

Yep, naval infantry most likely. Maybe spiced up with some GRU officers.

The Naval Infantry of the Russian Navy includes the 55th Naval Infantry Division of the Russian Pacific Fleet (55-я Дивизия Морской пехоты Тихоокеанского Флота), the independent brigades of the Northern and Baltic Fleets and of the Caspian Military Flotilla, and the independent regiment of the Black Sea Fleet. The main Arctic base of the Northern Fleet infantry is called Sputnik.

In 1994, Exercise "Cooperation from the Sea" was conducted, in and around Vladivostok, with the U.S. III Marine Expeditionary Force, to foster a closer relationship between the Russian Naval Infantry and the United States Marine Corps. U.S. Marines and Russian Naval Infantry conducted their first exercise on U.S. soil the following year, in Hawaii. "Cooperation From the Sea 1995" was a maritime disaster relief exercise, which included cross training and personnel exchanges, and culminated in a combined amphibious landing of U.S. and Russian marines. The purpose of the exercise was to improve interoperability, cooperation and understanding between U.S. and Russian personnel.

In 1998, the 22nd Motor Rifle Division, Far East Military District, at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka, was transferred to the Pacific Fleet. In 2000 the division became the 40th Independent Motor Rifle Brigade, and on 1 September 2007 the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade (40 отд. Краснодарско-Харбинская дважды Краснознаменная бригада морской пехоты).

From 2000 onwards, the Caspian Flotilla included a new naval infantry brigade, the 77th, based at Kaspiysk. The headquarters and two battalions of the brigade were scheduled to be established by August 1, 2000.[2] It was reported by Agenstvo Voyenniykh Novostyei (AVN) in June 2000 that the new brigade, which may have inherited the lineage of the 77th Motor Rifle Division,[3][4] was to have its troops housed in Kaspiysk and Astrakhan, along with as many as 195 combat vehicles and two hovercraft sent to it from Chukotka and the Northern Fleet, respectively. The brigade was also reported to have had helicopters assigned to it.

Minor air...some armor...artillery..ADA.. and those hovercraft things.

RUS also blocked Ukrainian military base in the area. No reported resistance.

Ukrainian "navy" is fleeing the ports as liberation of naval bases has apparently began!

12.23pm GMT
Kiev-based Unian report some more worrying developments.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said that about 300 soldiers are trying to capture a Sevastopol naval bases. Ukrainian ships have ordered to sea.
It is not clear if weapons are being fired or if there are any injuries.

Not looking good for those Ukrainian fellas:

Reuters report that Ukraine is unlikely to receive financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund before April according to Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksander Shlapak.
Ukraine, which faces a further $6 billion in foreign debt payments this year, has asked the IMF for financial assistance of at least $15 billion. An IMF team is expected in Kiev next week.

And the answer just came:

2.46pm GMT
The upper house of the Russian parliament unanimously approved President Putin’s request to use armed forces in defence of Russians and Russian interests, anywhere in the territory of Ukraine.

Hoooly shit, interesting to see how far they decide to go.
IMO the Baltics should be liberated now too while they are at it.

The Russians are back in town

Ukrainian special police forces (Berkut) are switching sides in some locations. Here former Ukrainian officers are securing the Russian road check point. In background one can see Russian, Crimean and Russian naval flags

Former members of Ukrainian police special forces have started to receive Russian passports.
Here are the first gentlemen who refused to serve Ukrainian puppet government and are now under Russian protection:

Russian consul in Sevastopol granting the rapidly issued passports.
