NOVENA .... The BEST 3-D movie I've seen was a small scene in which the MINIONS performed some Minion antics during the closing credits.
The 3D effect was 'improved' due to the fact that the frames as shown on the screen were reduced in size which created a large black frame which made the audience think that the 3D effects were 'reaching' beyond the boundaries of the screen.
Hard to explain, but it was damn impressive and the best 3D rendering I've ever seen since the days in which I was so damn impressed by BWANA DEVIL, HOUSE OF WAX, THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, etc,. etc.
Movie goers had never seen this stuff before so the theaters were packed with screaming 3D fans doing their best to avoid anything flying off that
In BWANA DEVIL (one of the first) a lion jumped into your lap .... and a spear poked you in the eyeball.
In HOUSE OF WAX you burned to death or melted with the already dead wax guys.
In BLACK LAGOON you merely got bored to death.
And there's one 3D movie that no one's gonna remember in which the very rich owner of a very big mansion is never seen but only heard while moving down the hallway while everyone else was trying to fall asleep.
The plot of the story was something like .... The ultra rich mansion owner was turning into a frog like creature and walked/hopped through the halls unseen at night so that his hideous condition wouldn't disturb his guests .... searching for the swimming pool.
Anyone see or recall that one?
