mostly due to the way he trains, IMO.

that bouncy, ballistic, explosive, herky-jerky stuff causes a lot of scar tissue and adhesions and whatnot... some time off and soft-tissue work may help him a bit. Ronnie did similar stuff, maybe not to the extent Branch and Johnny do, and look what it did to him over the years.... I'm surprised Johnny still seems pretty healthy.

he still carries a lot of size and muscularity, so I wouldn't say his 'receptors are burned out' or whatever, his main problem seems to be scar tissue and stuff.

honestly, I don't think johnny's been training like that for long.. I don't think he did back in '01/02, but I could be wrong. I think I saw him after he first turned pro and he was small, looked about 190 in shape (although he was probably much more) and his physique didn't look the way it did later on.

his body is fucked off and he just doesnt have the frame.

2 arnolds, a 2nd place O and a handful of other achievements.

He should be happy, he will go down as one of the greats, if he quits now he wont be remembered for an epic decline like whats gonna happen next year when the gifts come to an end and he gets an 11th place at the O. He wont recover from that.

What he has done to his body (which is "what it takes to be a Pro at this level") is going to become an issue at some point in his near future, as it will for all the guys playing the same game that the current contenders are doing.
