Have degrees from both NYU and Columbia University. Columbia is an Ivy League school and is ranked #4, while NYU is ranked #32 in the nation, but for what I was there for (Finance/Accounting), its business school is ranked #10 in the nation.

To be honest, what I paid for in attending both of these schools was mainly a network of high profile friends. Some of these friends came from affluent families with money and a distinguished last name, while others were just incredibly smart and talented, which served to make them leaders in their respective fields.

Yes, I honestly don't think that the education at an ivy league is the most important part of the school...it's the connections.

I'm still on the fence about what I would think about the elitist/prisoner of success atmosphere

It makes sense when it comes to bussiness and law school. But what about topics like physics, chemistry, etc... I thought the top universities were ranked by their investigations, etc. I think people from UC Berkeley have won like 72 nobel prizes.
