Obama shops at ‘Gap’ to support wage increase; Buys clothes made in China and Vietnam

If you play along you might receive a little promotion for your business, as President Obama demonstrated when he “dropped by” a Gap store in Manhattan yesterday, via Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner:
President Obama, on a fundraising field trip to New York City on Tuesday, stopped in at a Gap on 42nd Street to shop for his wife and daughters, confidently telling those around him, “I think the ladies will be impressed by my style sense.”
But given a choice to be stylish or prudish, he chose the latter, rejecting offerings of colorful V-neck sweaters for Sasha and Malia, according to the press pool report of the shop-op. “I’m worried the V-neck is going to slip,” the president and dad said. He settled on a gray and white striped and a bright coral sweater.

At the Gap, he praised the firm for raising employee salaries.
“It’s not only good for them and their families, it’s also good for the entire economy,” he said. “I want to congratulate the Gap for doing the right thing.”
The New York Post describes Obama’s purchases:
He instead chose a slate-blue, medium athletic zip-up track jacket for Michelle, who has made no bones about her love for Gap’s styles, once wearing a $10 t-shirt to a lunch with former First Lady Nancy Reagan.
The polyester-blend jacket, made in Vietnam, put him back $64.95.

The president wound up buying two button-down, long-sleeve sweaters: one in light pink and the other a bright coral, both smalls. The cotton-blend items were made in China and cost $44.95 each.
What are minimum wages in China and Vietnam? Just curious.
