Well I strongly disagree about boxing being stupid, sure it's a sport but boxers are fighters, at least in the traditional sense. Im a big fan of both SPORTS and you may very well be right about there being no famous boxers in 10 years (not sure about UFC/MMA having the same broad appeal that boxing did however, an inclusion in the Olympics would be a big step).

The problem with boxing is that the heavyweight division has disappeared. That was always were the drawing power was. Most of the potential great future heavyweights get into football, basketball, baseball etc. The lighter weight classes are still hanging on to a degree but may not last much longer. Such a shame because there is NO other sport, including MMA, that is as exciting and as involving as a truly great boxing match between two evenly matched opponents. Ali vs Frazier, Hagler vs Hearns, Ward vs Gatti, Chavez vs Taylor, Holyfield vs Bowe

Yeah boxing is a sport - the greatest boxers would not necessarily be the greatest fighters in terms of a bar or street fight. Guys like Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali, Thomas Hearns - all brilliant athletes and boxers, but perhaps not fighters outside the ring.

But to think that a guy like prime Mike Tyson or Earnie Shavers couldn't knockout any other person on the planet with a one punch in a legitimate fight (i.e. not in the ring or in a cage) is delusional.

MMA is a closer simulation of pure fighting than boxing, but it is still a sport with rules and utilises sport specific skills and techiques.

A broken arm ... a snapped pinkie ... and evidence of extreme torture -- just a few of the injuries suffered by one of the men allegedly beaten by Floyd Mayweather's crew ... and TMZ Sports has the X-rays.

We broke the story ... two men have lawyered up, claiming Mayweather ordered them to be beaten to a pulp recently because he suspected they stole jewelry from his Vegas home.

One of the victims had X-rays taken after the alleged incident and they show a variety of painful injuries, including:

-- Broken right pinkie
-- Severe swelling of the left hand
-- Broken left ulna
-- Cracked right ulna
-- Multiple fractures in left hand that required pins to reset the bones

We're told the left arm was so badly broken, doctors drilled into the bone to attach a titanium plate so it would reset.

The men claim Mayweather was present during the attack, but it's unclear if the boxing champ actually participated in the beating.

For their part, we're told the men adamantly deny they took anything from Mayweather.
