I used to wear them. They are called 'Budgie smugglers' in Australia. I now wear board shorts and long sleeved UV protected surf shirts. The sun will damage your skin and you have to be careful you don't get a melanoma. Most people get things burned off their skin when visiting dermatologists. After you reach 50 you lose some of the melanin in your skin so that is also when you need to see a skin specialist. Smart people sit in a tent or under an umbrella when at the beach. I live by the beach and in the US it's hard to find a guy on the beach in a speedo. If you see one it's almost always a European. Board shorts are the norm.
