What do you think a silverback could lift?

Someone told me they saw a documentary where some guy showed a silver back how to lift weights and the silverback clean and presse dlike 1000lbs. Any one else seen this? How much could  a silverback lift? With those shoulders Ill bet militarys with at least 500lbs

I could picture a silverback tossing an Olympic bar stacked with weights like it would swat a fly on it's ass crack. They're unnaturally strong animals. Even little monkeys and chimps could rip a person's limbs clean off without batting a lash.

  more than that , they say with proper training they could lift a volkswagon bug over their head easily. arthur jones tried but gorilla could care less. they had a chimp squeeze a dynanmonitor he squeezed  a little over 300 lbs, but became aggitated and all of a sudden squeezed over 1200 lbs.

Non-human primates are adapted for strength. Humans are at the other extreme, adapted for speed and precision. Humans are able to exert much finer motor control over their musculoskeletal system and this severely limits power output.

Primates have longer, more robust muscle fibers than humans and denser bone and joint structure. Very little research has been done on Gorilla's strength, but Chimpanzees are thought to be roughly 5 times stronger than humans. Past experiments have shown chimpanzees being capable of pulling the equivalent of 1,260 lbs on a dynamometer and one even pulled 847 lbs one-handed! And these were not done under ideal conditions (the chimps were still inside their cages and who knows if they were even fully exerting themselves?).

Silverbacks would make great linebackers. Both these primate are vegans, with a few bugs thrown in.

Chimps can and have been known to tear off human limbs in attacks with their bare hands, noses, hands, testicles...lets not even begin how strong a Gorilla is.

What a Chimp did in a matter of a very short attack to one person:
The vicious attack left Oberle with injures over his entire body. His right upper arm is broken, while his lower right arm muscle and ligaments are torn and exposed to the bone. Oberle's left arm was mauled and he lost fingers on both hands.

One testicle was ripped off and he suffered deep lacerations to both legs and lost several toes.

On discovery channel series where they had animated versions of bears,tigers,lions,sharks etc in fictional fights they had footage of a gorilla pulling a length of bamboo over and snapping it in half then eating it.The bamboo was about 3 inch thick,so in the studio they set up hydraulic arms and put a piece of bamboo in to see what pressure it took to snap.It was nowhere near the thickness of the bamboo the gorilla snapped but still took something stupid like 1,000lbs of pressure.

Saw a sign one day at the Philadelphia Zoo. There was some famous gorilla there for a couple weeks. It said 900lbs. @ 6% bodyfat... From eating bananas.
