Wife poisons husbands steroids with antifreeze
« on: March 16, 2014, 04:36:50 AM »
A Delaware woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband by poisoning his steroids with antifreeze.

Police launched a death investigation Sept. 16 after the body of James Baker II, 42, was found inside the bedroom of a Smyrna home he shared with his wife.

Detectives combed the scene for evidence, recovering pills, syringes and a box containing several bottles of liquid steroids.

Police said an autopsy revealed Baker’s kidneys contained a substance suspected to be ethylene glycol, a chemical found in antifreeze.

Investigators then sent the bottles of steroids to a laboratory, where they were all found to contain ethylene glycol, according to authorities.

The medical examiner ruled Baker’s cause and manner of death to be homicide by poisoning.

Further investigation allegedly revealed Baker ordered the steroids over the Internet in June 2013 and had them delivered to a friend.

Police said that, after divvying up the supply with the unidentified acquaintance, Baker took his cut home and stored it in a locked toolbox inside a closet.

Detectives on Thursday executed a search warrant at the home and made contact with Baker’s wife, 44-year-old Jamie Baker.

Police said Jamie Baker eventually confessed to extracting antifreeze with a hypodermic syringe from a container stored in a garage, then injecting the chemical into several bottles of her husband’s steroids.

Baker is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

She remained imprisoned without bail Friday at the Delores Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.

She was just looking out for him so he wouldn't freeze up on stage like Paul Dilett
