Putin won't be laughing for too long and neither will Crimea.......you see, Crimea gets their power, food, and fresh water from the Ukraine.....so its only a matter of time before that gets fucked with

Lol your beyond stupid, luckily for Ukrainians this sanctioning process against Russia has been instigated coming into the european spring believe me it will be resolved before the European winter, it is nothing more than the West trying to save a little face, believe me a phone call would have been given to Putin along the lines we have to look like were doing something, if they turn off the gas next winter in just that one act, they would have topped any sanction the west could bring against Russia.

Its all politics and its a done deal, west just trying to save face publicly, Putin looking like a grand master outplaying the west, and with a third rate armed forces Ukraine thinks it will be better off in the west, like Egypt Libya to many of their people think they will live like the people do on american tv, they dont realise that in democracy and capitalism there are winners and losers and their fate is sealed to the later, marked for future exploitation like every other american influenced country, that uncle sam has saved, dumb sheep.

Its not like the new Ukraine gov will pay out anytime soon :D

I think EU is jumping in to fix the debt.
In order to move forward, new government have to get rid of Right Sector ASAP, eradicate them forever. Those guys are trouble.
As long as they are roaming the streets in Ukraine there will never be peace there
and eastern part of the country will be pushed to do what Crimea did.
The problem is it is not going to happen peacefully.

and this is for Knight, a new prosecutor in Crimea

Zakaria: Russia endangering global order

By Fareed Zakaria

The best way to deal with Russia's aggression in Crimea is not to present it as routine national interest-based foreign policy that would be countered by Washington in a contest between two great powers. It is to point out, as Obama did eloquently last week in Brussels, that Russia is grossly endangering a global order that has benefited the entire world. Compare what the Obama administration has managed to organize in the wake of this latest Russian aggression, to the Bush administration's response to Putin's actions in Georgia in 2008.

That was a blatant invasion. Moscow sent in tanks and heavy artillery. Hundreds were killed. Nearly 200,000 people were displaced. Yet the response from the West was essentially nothing. This time the response has been much more serious. Some of this difference is the nature of the stakes. But it also might have to do with the fact that the Obama administration has taken pains to present Russia's actions in a broader context and get other countries to see them as such.

This is what leadership looks like in the 21st Century. There is in fact an evolving international order with new global norms making war and conquest increasingly rare. We should strengthen, not ridicule it. Yes, there are some places that stand in opposition to this trend: North Korea, Syria, Russia. The people running these countries believe that they're charting a path to greatness and glory. But they are the ones living in a fantasy world.

Watch the video for the full take or read the Washington Post column

It is not about USSR, it is about Russian Empire, no soviet era of thinking at all.
Putin is trying to bring Russia to what it was before Lenin and the thugs came in power. Tzar Nikolai Romanov Russia.

Funny how this "Global Order" thing is no longer just a conspiracy theory.

'Global order' in the sense understood by international relations scholars and think tank-types refers to the current distribution of global power with its nexus in Washington, underwritten by the permanent worldwide presence of the US national security establishment and the multilateral institutions established at the tail end of World War II. Anyone who wasn't dropped on their head as a child is capable of recognizing that this use of the term is unconspiratorial*.

'Global order' in the sense of a caste of non-Wiggsian Hebrews/bankers/lizards pulling the strings? Yeah, conspiratorial, and stupid.

Plus Russia these days is aiming for smaller yet more agile force capable of rapid and precise reaction giving the opponent little to no time to answer.

USSR was the 2nd largest economy in the world with third largest population back in the day with multiple satellite states to feed and 'protect'. Russia is not.
No way it could maintain such a colossal (conventional) military.
And there's little need these days to have 100k tanks and 10k helicopters or whatever ready to roll. Threats these days are something different than facing NATO on massive battlefield in Europe.

Russian "analyst" made an interesting post recently concerning the Crimea take over and new Russian tactics (google translate):

Quote
Putin has tested a new but highly effective tactics of warfare

InCrimea, Vladimir Putin tried very effective tactic "pop-up"of the war.Soldiers unmarked cyberattacks "treacherouspropaganda media" - so effectively that the West has not evennothing to answer certain American experts who advised MikheilSaakashvili during the war 08.08.08.Discussions that invading Crimea,Putin behaved as if he lives in the 19th century, formed the wrongidea about the significance of recent events.Putin does notmiscalculated, he introduced new methods of warfare of the 21stcentury.

Before Putin invaded Georgia in August 2008, he spent manymonths on the placement of the traditional military equipment.Herestored railways and highways to move then throw them tanks andthousands of soldiers. He sent warplanes to the Georgian border.Healso took the instruments of state propaganda to prevent understandexactly who started this war. Now, however, Putin is no longer boundby the war on a national scale. Many years of confrontation with theseparatists, militants, terrorists and no nationality playersseriously affected his thinking.

In Crimea, Putin tried tactics "quickwar" - a quick and covert, which are likely to be widely used inthe future.Suddenly, out of nowhere appears a hidden army.Soldiersunmarked well prepared to counter fomenting unrest and maintenance ofstreet fighting. These soldiers, who, according to Putin, he was notsent there, obviously, are not governed by any laws, rules andconventions governing the conduct of war - until it became the mostserious challenge to Putin's international order. This kind of hybridsoldiers and "militants": hidden person, secret command andcontrol and secret orders, undoubtedly designed to achieve the publicinterest. No evident leader prevents the international community tomake a reciprocal actions, because it is unclear who to negotiate ona ceasefire or surrender.

Furthermore, if the start fighting, stopthem would be extremely difficult. These irregulars also represent apsychological threat to the new Kiev authorities and Ukrainians ingeneral, because no one knows where this may lurk hidden army offighters.Tactics Putin creates chaos he runs, the status quo, whichallows him to influence the policy of Ukraine.Putin "invaded"in Crimea, partly because it was the least risky way to test his newtactic of war.Crimea where the Russian military assets deployed andwhere he lives sympathetic Russian population, geographicallyisolated from the rest of Ukraine.Putin could confidently expect thatby the weary West conflicts will not follow any physical response tohis "invasion."For many years, Putin has relied on a heavyhammer in the spirit of Soviet times. However, his recent actionssuggest that the traditional army and intelligence have ceased to bethe weapon with which he intends to wage war.

While the West isthinking about how best to answer him, Putin is likely goes on to thenext step: he is trying to find out what international protocols canjustify his actions and his tactics can be applied elsewhere. It istime to abandon the decadent the belief that the era of continentalwars in the past.In the future, the world will follow the tactics ofPutin's status quo, and it is a reality that we must recognize and towhich we must find an adequate answer.

Absolutely.
Putin is supporting traditional, even conservative values, has revived the church (USSR (communism) wanted to destroy it) etc. Imperial double headed eagle is a state symbol instead of hammer and sickle.

Even Russian military convoy showed the "Imperial standard flag" along the Russian one:
