Canada's Finance Minister Abruptly Resigns

Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty has abruptly resigned from the Conservative cabinet. In a statement, Flaherty said he made the decision with his family, and will return to the private sector. He released the news after 4:00pm today after the markets closed. Prime Minister Harper is expected to name a replacement tomorrow. It had better not be that theiving Tony Clement... that same piece of shit who stole all that tax-payer money claiming it was for the G20 Summit, and instead he used it to build recreational buildings in his riding that had nothing to do with the G20.

Wild speculation on my part, ...but I can't help but to wonder how much this Crimean situation, and the financial precipice we're all sitting on has to do with his resignation. I don't buy the skin disease for a minute.

Ive had some insider info from some peoole close to crimean family that shows were all way off base... that the crimean citizens were 'soft' invaddd by russia and bullied/threatened/forced into making a show of voting and wanting to join Russia, but that its all phoney.

Completely changed my view on the situation.  Rather than jumping kn every propoganda piece maybe you should look more into what the actual crimeans are feeling?

I don't know any Crimeans personally, but I have heard it was given to the Ukraine one night during one of Gorbachev's drunken binges. As a GTA resident, I know all about the idiosyncrasies of having a leader prone to stupid irrational actions in the midst of drunken binges.

Too bad Harper wouldn't do the same.  The Canadian Government is crooked as hell.

I know that's supposed to be Harper, ...but it bears an uncanny resemblance to Chrétien.  :D

What choices do we have? Justin Trudeau? He would neeed some damned fine advisors behind him to run his cabinet. Bob Rae is retired. Allan Rock is now at the University of Ottawa, not many left with back bone from the PET or even the Chrétien years. Mulcair is an unknown entity, ...although I do like him only because he sodomized Mr. Potato Head in the run for Jack Layton's old position. I detest Mr. Potato Head, and even though he may have goten himself a weave or a transplant from Hair Club for Men, he'll forever be a slimy potato head in my eyes.  >:(

You're right, there really is no one good waiting in the wings.  We'll have to dig up Pierre Trudeau, I guess.  For his faults, at least he spoke his mind.  "Fuddle Duddle".
