... how would Zane rate? Where? Men's Physique? He was awesome for his time and ours, but where would he stand in the lineup today?

Serious answers would be so fucking cool for those who really think they can answer that with all fairness ~

Given that Zane, in this photo, having the advantage of the post-1979 Photoshop's Levels and Shadow/Highlights function..... actually annihilates modern insulin/gh experiments whose current photoshoppers take full advantage of aforementioned Adobe PS functions...you've got to ask yourself if bb has advanced at all?

This is a great picture of Zane. As far as how he would fair today, who is to say ? If he was competing today he more than likely would be doing the same things as everybody else. Maybe the right question would be how would everybody today compare to Zane in his time.

today's standards suck!!!!!!

what are the judges looking at?

zane was pretty complete and had nice balance.

very good conditioning too.

these guys today look like hell.......zane was pleasing to the eye.

these judges have rewarded physiques that are all about shock value......nothing nice to look at......except troy alves and dexter.

I am in so much agreement with you. The current judging is what's making bb regress more than anything. You reward the guy who's willing to take the most drugs, get stupid huge and baloon up with gh/insulin. Guy's with terrible structure and muscle shape know they still have a shot if they just pile on size. Get back to traditional standards and maybe these guy's aspiring to professional bodybuild with come back to reality. Not even traditional standard's, late 80's early 90's saw amazing bb's the best! You can somewhat understand the size revolution. Seeing new freaks weighing 260lbs. Now 280lbs. Now 290lbs! The shock and awe is over though, how about straight up who just looks the best to your eyes?

I'm the only one who did anything with that old B & W shot. I enhanced the photo with Topaz and then I just colorized it a bit. No proportions were changed in any way other than the overall size of the photo.

Some think that I used an HDR filter. I did not.

Some lighting was changed in CS6 with "Curves" but not much else was done.

He was truly sick in that shot and IMHO is still unrivaled (with that pose) in ANY way, shape or form. I don't care which muscle group you pic.

Trust me... back on point, I know what you are saying... it is evident in every single add and photoshoot (AND COVER) of MD.. and a little less subtle in others ~

Yes, it doesn't appear morphed/liquified or enhanced size/shape-wise. But it is on equal footing filter-wise with current crap and blows the current filth

out of the water. People often compare current filtered shots with older unfiltered shots. On equal footing...well....Zane doesn't look bad.
