Why in the world would you include rancho in that mix lol.
I live in one of the most beautiful areas in southern california and I am on my phone even when I am on the beach. Either talking on it for work reasons or on getbig. Its attached to my hand.
Rancho has some pretty wealthy neighborhoods, nice malls. High average household income. For people who aren't into living in Los Angeles, and who like seeing a breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains from the vantage point of suburbia, it's a cool place to live. Same with those other surrounding cities, Fontana, San Bernardino, etc. Riverside is where it starts to get a little janky, would not go there. Orange County has some great little towns too. I myself have mainly only been to Los Angeles, five times, so I do enjoy it (unlike most people). But yeah, anything beats snow in April.
As for taking the Internet with you - that's a personal preference and location doesn't factor into it. I really meant sitting at a computer indoors. That's something I only do because of the abysmal climate.
