Gaining muscle tissue is "easier" but it takes much longer.  The process of dieting is much more unpleasant, but it can be done in 2-3 months.

Muscle can only be built so fast, even on all the juice in the world.  Takes years to build a quality physique

I am naturally thin and seemingly lose weight easy compared to others.

It is easier to gain weight. Up to a certain point, just as losing weight is easy the first couple of pounds.

So true, if only I knew this in the beginning!

After a while though, eating thousands upon thousands of calories a day, constantly preparing food, eating, cleaning up, shopping, thinking about your next meal, being full all the time becomes very unpleasant. It is much harder to overcome a weight gain plateau compared with hitting a sticking point when losing weight. At some point your metabolism just catches up and you need to keep upping your calories.

If you read the textbook definition of an ectomorph, it's not Dexter Jackson.

In fact, no ectomorph has muscle bellies like this:

You're posting pics of how Jackson looks NOW. Remember that he used to compete as a bantamweight.

gaining fat is the easiest

then losing fat

then gaining muscle

putting real muscle on without getting fat is a tricky thing to do

unless your genetics are phenomenal

This.

But wouldn't you hold onto a lot more muscle mass if using anabolics while dieting? I'd imagine that even the most genetically gifted individuals while start chewing through muscle tissue once a low enough bodyfat percentage is reached. At very low bodyfat levels, your hormonal system, which is entirely lipid based, begins to malfunction and you end up with low natural test levels and high levels of stress hormones. Hence the concentration camp look usually seen at natural bodybuilding shows.

who cares about the muscle? the low bodyfat is the key. Once you get there, start the anabolics and the muscles will grow. Then the anabolics will serve their purpose

It doesn't matter.  And ecto, even on massive drugs, doesn't look like that.  He doesn't fit the description.

Also, according to his history, he was a lightweight in his first show, then light heavy after that.  Don't know if there was anything prior to 92.

Jackson himself stated he first competed as a bantamweight (2:10 onward).

If you saw him in his early years, the first thing you'd think is that he's an ectomorph.  And in 1995, he was a middleweight. That's the year he won the Southern States and won his class at the USA (Light-heavyweight), losing the overall to Phil Herndon.

You are making that statement, based simply on how he looks NOW, not how he looked back in the day or his early years.

Don't see that comment going down too well on a forum called "GetBig". Low bodyfat and abs on somebody with no muscle doesn't count, that's the Justin Bieber look.

I was going to say that's the crackhead look. But, you basically said the same thing.

Gaining weight I find hard. The good type obviously. Returned to the gym recently after a 3 month layoff and shrunk down to the mid 80kgs. Been back a month going 5-6 days a week, eating like a horse and only gained 2kg so far  ::). I'm 89kg this morning on the scale. The effort I put in this last month would break your heart. Losing that two kilograms (roughly 5 lbs) I gained would be the easiest thing ever. Stay out of the gym for 2 weeks, eat the normal 3 meals a day and I'll drop weight like a rock.

you are both missing the point. muscle don't matter when covered in fat

strip the fat then you can put the anabolics to good use

What if you're doing it naturally (for the time being anyway), would you say the same still count?

You act as if you're simply going to put on lean muscle, once that happens. It doesn't quite work that way, in most cases.

It works in my case. And whomever I trained gained the same way. Lean muscle is where it's at. I can put on 25 lbs of pure muscle and even lower the bodyfat by a digit in 6 weeks tops once I start a cycle lean at 6-7%. I find it much better and the logical choice.

Its water retention and glycogen retention in the muscle you daft twat, its isnt new muscle.

Those two pics could be carb depleted and carb loaded.
