Don't take this as me stereotyping Californians, but most of them are pretty ignorant of what goes on outside the state's borders (not entirely to their demerit, given that it's a semi-mythical and therefore desirable place to live) and don't always feel the urge to discuss global political issues or economics in the style of this forum.
