Pro Card: Better or Worse?
« on: January 19, 2006, 10:30:54 AM »
can anyone think of people who actually looked better as an amateur than they do as a pro? Kamali springs right to mind, but who else has sacrificed their look to gain that extra 10-20lbs of shite on their physique?

That guy who married Killy Ryan looked much better when he won his pro card.

Pro Card dont mean shit no more... a lot of these guys turn pro, but after that you never see them place any higher than 12th or 13th in these shows...so a pro card dont always mean a better physique in the pro ranks.

I was thinking, who bumps a thread 5 years later... But that was very insightful.

charley clairmonte was just a decade too late, would have been top top contender in the 80's, didnt suit him to go against the 90's monsters

Clairmonte did just fine. He placed top 10 at the Olympia and won several pro shows in the 90s.

Yes, but IMO Ronnie is a bad example as he looked incredible in '98 (which was quite a few years after he won his pro card). But on a whole I agree, most IFBB pro's look better when they win their card than, let's say, five years later. Towards the end most have completely ruined their physique.
