I always thought they were the best of that generation, Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden etc.... They only had 5 or 6 albums but every song was great with the exception of Tripod.

I saw them open up for KISS at tiger stadium in 95.

Fuckin great band. Shame that Layne Staley was a degenerate heroin abuser. Apparently, he was found dead in his apartment of an overdose and had been decomposing for two weeks. Lovely way to go. Very rock and roll.

DIRT album had a lot of eerie foreshadows in the songs...  almost dictating his death and the bass players death. Bummer.

That song they did a few years back, "check my brain" wasn't bad. I was surprised how much they still sounded the same. Great band.

Duvall is no Layne, but I think he's a great fit. Listen to "Private Hell" from that some album. It's haunting.

I love Alice in Chains with Layne.  I would have killed to see those guys play in person.  AIC and Tool are 2 of my favorites.

Not the same without Layne but it is better than nothing. The new singer sounds like Layne on some songs.
