I read an article once about bug size and how its limited by the present oxygen levels....or something like that. During the period when the earth's atmosphere was more oxygen rich the bugs were huge.

About 30 miles from where i live there are some mountains that have those giant hornets or wasps. Six stains from them can kill a bull.
