The great Tex Avery on the first four.

Dig the double bi:

These are from the Depatie/Freleng studio I think.
They are the ones who did the “Pink Panther” film credits and cartoons.

Imagine seeing a dragon fly with a two foot long wingspan...

I read an article once about bug size and how its limited by the present oxygen levels....or something like that.   During the period when the earth's atmosphere was more oxygen rich the bugs were huge.

That could be it as well. And lack of predators as wel. And nowadays island gigantism can play a role as well.

About 30 miles from where i live there are some mountains that have those giant hornets or wasps. Six stains from them can kill a bull.

I gave the subject a quick search.

Summary:
The giant dragonflies of ancient Earth with wingspans of up to 70 centimeters (28 inches) are generally attributed to higher oxygen atmospheric levels in the atmosphere in the past. New experiments in raising modern insects in various oxygen-enriched atmospheres have confirmed that dragonflies grow bigger with more oxygen, or hyperoxia

And I thought that in ancients times the insects were 10+ feet.
Seems Kindergarten is not over for me yet.

Thanks. So, if people want to breed super dragonflies, they need to provide a controlled oxggen rich environment, larger prey for the nymphs, etc. and keep doing this until they have dragonflies with considerably large wingspans.

You live in Japan? This is a subspecies of the Asian giant hornet.
