I'm not sure I buy what you might be saying about American Indians not being an established culture but it is certainly different than modern French culture.  So what might fly in the USA (in the past or now) doesn't mean that should be how it goes in France.

Good point about the restaurants.

First off, native american is a blanket term for multiple tribes with varying cultures.  But I dont deny that NAs had established cultures prior to European settlement.   Its a complicated subject.

hes saying historical conquests and legal immigration are two completely different subjects.

Historical conquests?  Not in most cases.  More like negotiated treaties broken immediately.

Honestly, all this pearl-clutching about culture reminds me of how some folks get their panties in a twist over how slang terms work their way into common use and mainstream dictionaries over time. 

Culture, like language, is a living and evolving thing.  Fighting it too much is a losing battle, for sure.

Certain aspects of culture are worth fighting for. A culture based on science and secular laws needs to be preserved
