the problem with the holocaust deniers (and all conspiracy theorists actually) is that they pick parts of history or facts that were at one time believed (but that modern studies have shown to be wrong) as evidence of the 'holes' in the true fact that they are stating the conspiracy theory about.

I suspect Yates has been reading the works of historian David Irving.  Yates is right in that much of history is a lie, if that is his statement.  In my mind, that isn't to suggest that many did not perish during WWII, only that many purported events (WWII based or otherwise) that have repeatedly been stated as fact, are not always fact.  The atrocities committed throughout history need no embellishment, as they are heinous enough on their own.

Some deniers will subtract those who died from other causes like diseases such as typhus from the total number of deaths.  As I mentioned before, the nazi are still responsible for those deaths as those individuals were not there willingly.

I stumbled on the video he mentioned as I'm a bit obsessive history wise. It had some interesting parts let's just put it thay way...like video footage of staff at one of the Concentration camps admitting to a Jewish skeptic that the gas inlets in the ceilings were put in POST war...the Jewish skeptic disappeared not long after compiling his investigation.
