Sen. Reid on Cattle Battle: "It's not over"

Unbelievable...

Sen. Reid on Cattle Battle: "It's not over"

RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Senate majority leader Harry Reid hasn't been very vocal about the cattle battle showdown in recent days, but says "it's not over."

Reid tells News4's Samantha Boatman his take on the so-called cattle battle in southern Las Vegas. "Well, it's not over. We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it's not over," Reid said.

Senator Reid had just wrapped up a speech and question and answer session with students at UNR.

THIS IS NOT A WIN!  (yet)

Dude still owes 1.1 million in taxes.  He's still in direct violation of a federal court order.  A "win" would have been the feds saying "it's cool, debt forgiven, you're good to go".   Instead, the "win" is just the feds not making a move on them.  That day.

The feds have time on their side.   They can wait a week or three to gather more men.  They can limit airspace.  They can run the plates/ cell phones/ facial recognition/ social media/ etc on everyone that showed up riding horses, completely playing their card.  They'll all be on Glen Beck and Alex Jones this week, high-fiving and celebrating the fact the feds decided, on this day, not to arrest/shoot them.

So before we do the "Scott brown 41!" and "obamacare is dead!" and "Landslide coming 2012!".... Let's evaluate what really happened here.  The feds decided, on this day, not to stomp a few hundred guys on horses with rifles making their point.  But they played their card 100%... they showed their faces, their numbers, their cells, etc...

Now, maybe the feds just ignore this dude for another 15 years and let him be in violation of this court order... or maybe they quietly wait until the weather is shitty, people are caught up in NFL playoffs, they know where the most threatening 50 of the people here are located... and they quietly arrest this dude.

I am just weary of the celebrations already.   Patriots played their card now.   Maybe it's just pessimism to think the govt would hold a grudge and come after the good guys here.  But when I hear people saying "The war has just begun" - well, the govt is the ones with all the intel, guns, manpower...They could have flattened everyone marching yesterday.  They just decided not to do it.  I really hope this is the end of it... but I'd be shocked if it is.  :(

He's accomplised a lot just by showing people that it is possible to stand up the the tyrannical feds and make them back down, and exposing them as the monsters they are.

true, but in this day of technology and all the tools the govt has at their disposal, they dont NEED to pull another Waco.

They can just scan the air for cell phones.  Photograph everyone there.  Run license plates.

They didn't back down because they lacked the firepower to mow down 100 dudes on horses.   No, they backed down because they didn't want the bad press and didn't need to do it that way.  My point is that they have the ability to do it any day they want.  Does anyone here really think this guy will be allowed to keep his cattle there forever?  I sure don't.  I think they'll wait til this story is old news, and they'll do it again... maybe on a holiday or maybe during super bowl or whatever, so people don't bother showing up.  And if they do show up, they'll already know who is coming.

In 2014, WACO would have been handled differently for fear everyone inside that house was tweeting pics and updating their wall.  Think about how Ruby Ridge would have been handled... cell phones with tweets and video change everything.

good points,

Since anyone can be labeled a terrorist now and held indefinitely without trial, will these people be rounded up and put in a military prison as terrorists? ???

So does this apply to illegal immigrants who democrats and RINOS consider not only citizens, but "American heroes"?

Snap!  I was going to say the same thing.

Not to mention the illegals who have criminal records who under the amnesty plan would have their record expunged.

Why wouldn't we do that for them? Their act of breaking our law is an "act of love". How can we punish such "acts of love"? I will think about that the next time I read about a person getting mugged. After all, the thief probably did  it to feed his family.  ::)

good call.  I"m not saying it's right, but I'm saying it's a reality. IF the govt is done fighting with them, they win.  But IF the govt is just waiting to pounce on a different day, this move gives them a ton of intel on the "rebels", as they'd consider them.

Now he calls them domestic terrorrists.

Pay attention. This is what these democrats are really like.

Senator Harry Reid has escalated the war of words over the Cliven Bundy dispute, sensationally labeling the Nevada cattle rancher’s supporters “domestic terrorists” during an event in Las Vegas today.

During a ‘Hashtags & Headlines’ event at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Reid referred to Bundy supporters as “Nothing more than domestic terrorists,” adding, “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”

they did try to force a violent confrontation with US federal agents in which they attempted to have American civilian women injured/killed in order to further their political agenda.

they did admit that much.  We can debate whether or not someone who tried to kill american women on American soil for political cause is a domestic terrorist.  Reid thinks they are.  I think they're just a-holes.  Who knows.

How did they try to force confrontation? The Feds are the ones that came out heavily armed with Snipers and Helicopters. I'd say their response was pretty restrained.

Being a "gun nut" doesnt mean a person is violent.  Who are the real gun nuts?

From the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) comes the “Firearm Violence, 1993-2011” study produced by BJS Statisticians Michael Planty, Ph.D., and Jennifer L. Truman, Ph.D., we learn:

In 2010, the rate of firearm homicide for blacks was 14.6 per 100,000, compared to 1.9 for whites, 2.7 for American Indians and Alaska Natives, and 1.0 for Asians and Pacific Islanders (figure 5). From 1993 to 2010, the rate of firearm homicides for blacks declined by 51%, down from 30.1 per 100,000 blacks, compared to a 48% decline for whites and a 43% decline for American Indians and Alaska Natives. Asian and Pacific Islanders declined 79% over the same period, from 4.6 to 1.0 per 100,000. Although blacks experienced a decline similar to whites and American Indians and Alaska Natives, the rate of firearm homicide for blacks was 5 to
6 times higher than every other racial group in 2010. As with other demographic groups, the majority of the decline occurred in the first part of the period and slowed from 2001 to 2010.

Are you the type that wouldn't defend yourself or your family when threatened?

The government exaggerated. Why don't they deploy those forces to the borders and keep the real criminals out? Because according to your party leader, Reid, we are a nation of laws ::)

Without realizing it, you are making a strong argument for preserving gun rights.

Did the govt show up on Bundy's property with guns drawn?
Or did they show up on their own property?

Look, the dude stopped paying the bills in 1993.  Yes, the bill was bullshit and rooted in greed, but it's the law of the land, and dude enjoyed 20 years of free grazing.  Finally, the last year, he's been served an eviction notice and while the whole thinks stinks of Harry Reid and his cronies... he really should get off the property.  A lot of things suck about the govt and its dealings, it's completely indefensible.   But we live in a country where you agree to obey the govt on things involving, well, their lands.  If I go to Area 51 and scream "I'm a citizen, i OWN this land", they are going to bring out some very big sniper rifles and probably cap my ass.

It's the law.  Even when it sucks, it's the law.  They can carry any kind of sniper rifles they want - it's their land.  Just as Mr Bundy can carry all the rifles he wants - on HIS land.  And if a dude that hasn't obeyed federal law in 20 years, and doesn't even RECOGNIZE federal law, is screaming about WACO - then yes it is a good idea to use guns.

They weren't trigger happy.  They didn't punch or kick the protesters pushing women to the frontline and blocking public roads.  They just held the line - on govt property.

Sucks, but unless they were on HIS lawn, they can use any damn gun they want.  If they were in HIS yard with guns pointed at him for no reason, then yes, I agree completely with ya.  I might be wrong, sorry if I am.
