Thank you.  Now this guy was the most dominant bodybuilder ever.  After his third place debut he won every Mr O hands down and was miles ahead of every man on the planet.  No one, not even Ronnie, can say that.
He didn't have much competition. He didn't have a Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Chris Cormier, Nasser, Gunter, Ruhl, or even Shawn Ray at the tail end of his career.

All of those guys would easily have crushed Haney's competition, and I believe Cormier, Levrone, Flex would have beaten Haney.

You can only compete against those that are put in front of you, therefore Dorian was the most dominant Mr Olympia.

He competed in the toughest era - Levrone, Shawn Ray, Wheeler, Nasser, Dillett, etc, were all at the peak of their careers, and he failed to lose to any of them, with a torn bicep to boot for most of the time. That's dominance.

Haney only had to compete against midgets like Gaspari and Labrada. The 80's was a poor era for bodybuilding.

Ronnie was beating older versions of the guys that Dorian beat in the twilight of their careers. And there were several Olympias he shouldn't have won - Martinez should have won one year and Levrone had him beat in another. It could also be argued that Flex should have won in 98. Plus his legacy is tarnished when he should have retired in 2005 after the 8th win. Instead his physique went to ratshit.

Arnold had to beat Oliva which was difficult but other than him there was little other competition.

You cant throw in people who came after into the mix.
Its who they have to beat in their era.
Haney looked like he had no competition because he was so far ahead if it.

This. Today Haney wouldn't place Top 3 in his weight class at the Jr Nationals.

The 80s were a joke, in the 90s BB became BB.

You are comparing different eras.  Plus Haney had it in him to step it up - the threat of Dorian meant he stepped it up for his final showing and despite the judging card he really did soundly beat Dorian.  Haney was the most dominant, hands down and doesn't get enough respect.

It's because their bodies are a sham.  A façade.  Fake.  Artificial.  A canard.  A joke.  Not really theirs.  To be certain, natural bodybuilders lose their physiques as they age or when they stop training.

But not like the druggies.  And they don't tend to have the myriad of medical ("congenital" - HA!) problems that face idiots like Ronnie and the like.

If the Beatles never sang a note with their own voices, if they never played a single instrument either in concert or album, would any think them to be as great as they are now held?  No way.

Same with Frank Sinatra or a host of other musical greats.

These guys now have to look in the mirror of truth and live out the rest of their pathetically short lives as human versions of Shar Pei.

This is a stupid fucking statment. Whats wrong with you? pro bodybuilding... hell pro sports is all about peds and your response to it. Are you saying Ronnie never lifted a weight with his own muscles .... just silly childish statements.

You think you could win 7 tour d frances if you got on what Sir Lance Armstrong took?.. everybody is taking tons of stuff in pro sports... everybody is .

And dont compare sports which require extreme physical exertion to music.... just dont.

All bodybuilding standards of the 1980s were crushed by the very early 1990s.

You're English right, Angelito Lesta / Andrew Searle 5 or 6 years later became Dorian Yates / Ian Harrison (yes I know still late 80s...)

So the official scoring said he didn't win soundly, but he did anyway?

That's like saying you won a 4-0 ballgame by 8 runs.

Erm no, it is a subjective sport and on that day the judges subjectively favoured Dorian a little bit more than he deserved.

Yates won the muscularity round because he deserved it based on the judging criteria.

Haney squeaked by that year, then retired because he would have gotten waxed after that, and also because he wasn't willing to increase the drug use.

He went out gracefully and on top.

Then, I guess Haney was the most dominant then.

Cormier would have beaten Haney in Lee's prime?

Abso-fucking-lutely no way.

A ridiculous statement.

Cormier was damn near perfect. He was bigger, and far more symmetrical. And was conditioned. Cormier had it all, and he pretty much is the only bodybuilder one can think of where you visually keep adding muscle to him and he wouldn't look like an experiment...Shame that we never saw hi reach his true potential.
I firmly believe that Cormier's 2 2nd place finishes to Cutler at the Arnold and possibly  the
one behind Flex was politically motivated. I believe it had to do with the situation with Ahmo.

The fact still remains that Haney was extremely dominant over his competition, regardless of how his competition is viewed against that of others.  And I doubt either Levrone or Wheeler could have beaten a prime Haney.  Haney was much better than most people give him credit as being.  If the 1993 Arnold version of Flex Wheeler was arguably his best, I would suggest that a prime Haney would destroy him.

DOMINANT ???  NO WAY ! That year you had a lot of classic physiques on stage and even Flex Wheeler in his first try taking second place almost winning the whole thing in first attempt ! at the end of the day it was more like apples and oranges ..

With Ronnie ...while he was flexing onstage you had the ENTIRE competition  backstage, watching his routine on a monitor, jaw dropped hoping they could take 2nd place.

That's how DOMINANT Ronnie was.

You talking crazy talk. Wheeler--the 93 Arnold, 93 O, 97 Arnold, 98 Arnold, and even the 98 O Wheeler would have beaten a prime  Haney.
Haney had great parts---chest, torso...but when you look at him, he had some glaring weaknesses...he didn't have the flow. Flex was tad weak in the chest. But, his flow was on point.

I do think that out of all of the Mr. Os aside from Sergio, if brought up to Ronnie's era, he would give Ronnie some good competition.
I actually think that if Sergio was brought to this or Ronnie's era, he would dominate.

I will say this, you put Haney in today's competition with legs, and a slightly bigger arms. He would win agains these guys.

Wheeler from '93 was 220 soaking wet (if that) and would get beat  by '91 Haney.  Flex couldn't win the Olympia, even if he were the only person in it.

Wheeler from '93 was 220 soaking wet (if that) and would get crushed by '91 Haney.
216 93 Arnold, 218 Mr. O. And he came second to Dorian who looked better than he did when losing to Haney.
It's not a matter of weight with Flex, but what he looked liked. If it were weight only, then he would have gotten "crushed" by a 280-285 pound Nasser at the 97 Arnold. Where Flex weighed 224.

Haney's strengths--chest, back and his taper. Flex's strengths---full round muscles bellies, which give him the appearance of weighing more than what he did. His flow and taper. And his back detail and cross striations.
