Judges thought it sounded too much like what it really is, a "night" with the champions.

Wayne Demilia owned the rights to the name and when he was booted from /left the IFBB, they couldn't use the name any longer.

Many schmoes showed up angry and disappointed due to false advertising. Some say the angriest of the crowds were at the 2002 and 2003 NOC when Bob Chick competed. Some guys even wheeled in their own ice machines that night.

Heiko got robbed in that show, should've been Top 3 (better than Chic)

Heiko Kallbach - the Berlin wall, now that's a training vid I haven't seen in a long time.

Yeah, he was in very good shape, although, the competition was really fierce back then.

"NoC" is a bit homoerotic so perhaps they are all homophobes?

Ben Brantley calls A Night of Champions a triumphant blend of heroic moxie and monastic reflection: "Mixing elements of Augustinian confession and Pantagruelian picaresque, Marty Champions' dazzling one man show is like a Waiting for Godot where Godot not only shows up, he brings Zarathustra along to join him in taking a pyramid shit on your most accepted beliefs. Folks, this is 'Theatre of the Absorbed' – you'll laugh yourself to sleep and weep until your sides split. Absurd, you say? Put down the heme-iron and come find out!" Rating: 4/4 crates of raped grapefruits.

the old school night of the champions would cover their ass leaving the schomes to wonder whats under there. but these days the schomes know what they are going to get before the bodybuilders leave the stage.

Not all (admittedly most do) load up on GH and insulin these days, so could it be the high doses of test compared to the old days that are also ruining condition?  I am convinced it must be.
