Thanks. The only thing I didn't do was pause at the bottom. That's because my spotter (my son) was taking the video.

Good solid lift, very strong

why didn't you get your son to do a liftoff ? I'm not brave enough to go over 2 plates without a spotter anymore.

A thick and striated chest is what matters.

That's how to develop a thick, striated chest.

That's how to develop a thick, striated chest.

Correction: it's one of the possible routes, and an almost 100% guaranteed route to rotator cuff problems.

Just tuck the elbows, pull the bar apart, use your lats, flare on the way up, good leg drive while pinching the shoulder blades, stay tight the whole time .... bahahhahahah
That will protect your shoulders coach ..... just being a dink here coach, good advice for sure to help extend your benching life

Proof hard work and consistency is superior to drugs over the long run - how many pro powerlifters are still making gains in their 40's, not too many I am sure

Uk powerlifter Dave Beattie just broke his pb and his own British squat record at the age of 52.

T-Rex is correct. In 39 years of training and I mean heavy training, I've never had a shoulder problem. Problems occur from 1. Bringing the bar down to the upper part you chest causing the elbows to become parallel with the ears (wrong bar path) 2. Overuse from too much volume on a power exercise. 3. Not bringing the bar to full ROM and/or stopping the bar 1/2 way down (which is retarded in itself but people still insist it's the right way ::)).

no not even close, more like 99.99 and the even higher yet.

Your number 99.9 means 1 in 1000, that means in a city with a million people there is 1000 people that can bench 400, hell no.

I can only speak for myself and those with the same problems (many!). In most cases I didn't made one of those 3 mistakes. The possible cause is prob a small shoulder imbalance in my case. As a result I can't perform pushing movements with fixed grips (barbells & machines), both for the pecs & delts, without immediate pain.

I have to retract my statement about not having an injury. I tore my pec when I was 40. Nothing serious but was out for a couple of weeks.

You're experiencing that? If so, try different exercises, stretch and make sure you fully recover.

Sorry to hear that, this is one of those lifter's nightmares  :-\
Has it effected your strength and symmetry?

This was almost 12 years ago. Hasn't affected my strength but I do have a small asymmetry at the insertion of my left pec. It can be seen mostly when I diet down.

how the f do you flare your lats while pinching the shoulder blades??????

it's different.. you can flex (flare) your lats without spreading your scapula.

if you flex your lats, it'll create a few inches of forward movement in my elbows/upperarms.
