UFC 172 - Jones vs a punching bag Teixeira?
« on: April 26, 2014, 09:29:02 PM »
Been a while since I saw a real fight for the belt.

Who the fuck paired off Jones vs. a punching bag?

WHY ON FUCKING EARTH ARE THEY NOT WORKING HIS LOWER BODY????!!!!

"Seven months after narrowly winning the closest fight of his career, Jon Jones returned to his dominant ways at UFC 172. Big time. Jones (20-1) recorded his UFC-record seventh consecutive light heavyweight title defense, dominating challenger Glover Teixeira over the course of five rounds inside Baltimore Arena. All three judges scored the five-round contest for Jones, 50-45."

One of the most boring fights I have seen in a long time...

I actually just muted it and occasionally checked on it lol...5 rounds of nothingness.

Why was Anthony Rumble Johnson not in there with Jones laying a whooping on his skinny ass? Johnson was "ON" at 205 (probably 230+ in the ring)

Dude looked to have the brute confidence I have when I take 50mg of halo right before a deadlift workout...Glover whoever would have gotten his ass handed to him by Johson so why didn't Johnson get Jones? Bullshit.

You know what kills me? The fact that no one seems to give a shit about Bones' lower body. I've said it a million times. I truly believe that once someone with a good lower body game will beat this guy. As it stands right now he knows that no one is going to work his lower legs, so the only thing he has to worry about when he comes forward are the punches.

Especially when he's clinching an opponent. I was screaming like a frigging madman "kick his fucking legs!!!!".

They don't make em' like Hoost anymore man..Hoost would cripple this kid. Granted he did fight at roughly 240lbs but still... :P

It's always the same chicken shit argument: You won't be able to hit his legs! Bullshit! Thy won't know until they start doing it. This dude Gustafson was the first guy to really commit to punches and kicks to the torso and look what happened to Bones, he couldn't even walk out of the octagon.

I tell you what, you work his legs as well as his arms and all that spinning circus shit will end quick.

Its easy. If you kick his legs he will take you down and ruin your face with elbows. Hence why no one dares to kick him more then once every other round so he doesn't get the timing down to time a from it. He doesn't really need to time it to be honest. If he wold get hurt by legkicks he would just take you down. And a slow legkick would result in a 84inch sniper right cross. All in all a bad idea.

What makes me furious about Jon is hes rangechecking/and EVERY single time his oponent moves in with his FINGERS OPEN. Which should be illegal. And probably is.

That is 80% of his tactic at the moment.

Every single time your opponent moves in, extend your arms/fingers in ooponents eyeheight so they're Forced to walk into a eyepoke and potential career ending poke/Blindness to reach him.
Eventually the opponent gets so uncomfortable with this this that he stops moving in. This is followed up by Jones starting to attack and taking over the fight.

He poked Glover 2 times on purpose and got warned and did it another 10 following that, not actual in the eyes pokes but extended his finger so it would result in a poke if Glover kept coming forward.

Against Gus he got -------------- 9! ---------------- verbal warnings and not a single point deduction.

He will do the exact same thing Against Gus in the rematch.

Wanna reach him? You have to be willing to become blind.

The ref NEEDS TO GROW A PAIR OF BALLS and take a point. Jones could keep his hands CLOSED while doing this without an issue. And dumd ass "goldie" claims its not in purpose. It is. And he trains it.

I actually thought the ref would do something about it since he poked glover in the first round and the ref paused the fight.

But nope. Of course not. Let jones do whatever the fuck he wants. Rules or not.

I give props to Jon for standing close and slugging with Glover though. This was after he had already ruined him though.

After not looking so good in his last fight the UFC had to give Jones an easy win to preserve the brand.

Exactly!

Did you see one of the Fertitta's walking around in the octagon, after the fight, all smiles like had just lost his virginity? This was a set-up. They are charging real fight money for what are obvious training sessions. Even Jones said that Teixeira had "limited" skills!

MMA is going the way of boxing in all ways possible.

No, I disagree, people do not hit him because he's got this aura of invincibility that fighters can't wrap their heads around. If you kick his lower legs he WILL NOT take you down. He gave Grover plenty of chances to carry out a game that made him think. While in a clinch, for instance, he did not throw a single kick to the sheen. That spinning elbow shit he does... You mean to tell me the other fighter can't time it out? Even I saw them coming!

Whoever fights this guy has to come up with a lower leg game, be able to defend on the ground and most of all, commit to your punches like it's the last thing you'll do in your life. It's definitely doable.

Its easy for you to say, you have never fought him, he has beaten the best guys at 205 in the world, you really think none of them thought about kicks to the lower body? If Jones takes you down you are fucked and with that kind of range he can literally check anything you throw at him. Gus hurt him because his reach and size matched Jones not because his game plan was so superior. Its easy for keyboard warriors to talk but try fighting him in the cage and see how easy it is to pull off the shit you are saying, you would be knocked out in 12 seconds.

Hoost lost to Bob Fucking Sapp! SO NO he wouldn't beat him.

You are a loud mouth..To speak ill of a legit legend in the fight game like Hoost without any facts or knowledge proves your stupidity.

1. Hoost lost their first fight due to a cut. Their second fight he refused to back down, he chose not to run around like a coward such as Crocop, Hoost stood and attacked furiously, like a man and gave it his all. Yes he was overpowered by the 350lb Sapp because he actually fought, not ran away poking at him like Crocop etc.

2. Hoost was like 38 years old and a couple years away from retiring from a career than started in 1983... Bob Sapp was 28 years old...And a fully juiced up 6'5 350lbs.

3. Hoost went 98-21 in the highest level professional kickboxing in the world...He is an actual legend.

4. Jones went 10-1 against 100% no name bums, or in the case of a couple, aging has-beens like Quinton Jackson..He is 10-1 or worse against any relevant competition.

A prime Hoost absolutely destroys Jones.

He looks fragile compared to other kick boxers. I was always worried that he might break something.

I have never fought him but I know what doesn't work, the same way I know what happens, or can happen, when I jump from the 15th floor of an apartment building.

Look, no one said it would be easy to fight the guy but his arms and his legs are his weakest, and strongest, links. Attack them, don't aim at his head, take away his arms and his legs.
