The timing of the MVP award and when the winner is announced seems to always happen when that player is struggling in the playoffs. It's almost like the Madden curse.

I remember way back in 1995 when David Robinson received the MVP before the first game against Hakeem Olajuwon and the underdog Rockets. Hakeem flat out dominated Robinson in that game and the entire series. It made Robinson look like a bitch and a phony.

lebron could have EASILY won the MVP, but he chose to conserve his resources/energy. Took games off, charged up for the playoffs. His team swept 4-0.

Durant shot his wad going all-out for 82 games, and started the playoffs tired. Barely won their series and lost game 1 of the second series.

We all remember the year Barkley won the MVP and everyone saw him almost lose in 5 to the Lakers in round one... then of course, MJ do his magic in the Finals against him.

BRK has such great players - it's just that half of them are 5 years past their prime. In a 4-minute game, I'd give it to BRK to outsmart and outskill them. But 48 minutes of NBA playoff ball is TOUGH. Pierce and friends looked badass in quarter one. They looked like dogshit in 3rd and 4th quarter. Age sucks. SWEEP.
