Barack Obama's answer to the "old 1980s way of foreign policy" he mocked.

In this day and age you send your bitch wife out there to hold up a hashtag sign with a pouty face when you want to send a strong and decisive message.
Not bad. Should get some traction with the Fox/Coach unenlightened folks. I'd replace whore for bitch, tho. That'll get the Heartlanders stirred. They hate sex.

London too it seems.

I understand The UKIP had quite the showing last night.

Now if only the BNP could step it up a few more notches. 8)

We(the West) should crush these folks and put level headed people in charge, whether they be indigenous or "white" folks, but anyone who kidnaps small children should have their heads put on a fucking stick. I'm sick off us invading countries for bullshit reasons, and sitting idly by while these types of atrocities are committed.

I must admit, the ability to withhold a massive Cheshire Cat smile proved fruitless the moment I tapped the caps lock and thrusted those three contentious letters home.  :)

The US really needs to adopt the Chinese policy to Africa - it's a giant warehouse full of massively discounted resources that can be had dirt cheap if you just give the local warlords a shipping crate of AKs and grenades.

all this handwringing is truly pathetic, the average American doesn't know or care (and why should they?) why Boko Haram has got so powerful but Obama certainly does. hashtag Big Oil , Michelle. Don't pretend you don't know what's happening there.

Democrats love them some mass murdering of dark skinned people so long as it's being done 'For Little Girls to Go To School' (remember how that was used as justification for wasting billions in Afghanistan?)

As many Africans have been saying, invest not Aid. Many African nations are emerging markets, and are having a  booming tech industry. Also, apparently many companies are moving away from China for cheap labor (even China is moving away) and moving to Africa.
The Chinese way---the cheap AKs (which are rip offs, just like a lot of their stuff) may not work as well, especially when those guns are turned onto Chinese businessmen in African countries.

lol, not a chance.

there is a huge number of resources in the continent, but when those are gone and they will go fast, it becomes useless. African cultures are tribal, corrupt and unable to sustain 1st world democracy without another culture in charge.

If we don't buy up all the resources up the Chinese will.. and those will be all gone in 50 years leaving just a black hole of refugees, AIDS and malaria

China deals direct with dictators, we have to pretend to use 'charity' and 'development' and go through the IMF/World Bank to extort those same resources. This is a much much more expensive process as these institutions steal a large amount of the money we are trying to extort from the countries.

we should take in their smartest workers along with their resources, a Sudanese engineer is worth 10 x more to the US economy in the big picture than a Mexican weed picker, but we'll chose the unskilled, illiterate with no money every time over a high skilled asset

There's nothing to invest in. Each country on the continent (notwithstanding the Arab north) has one major capital city of mixed economic development. The rest are rural shantytowns and farms. The highways are patrolled by armed militias or heavily-armed government soldiers. And at least a few of those states have ongoing attritional wars between guerrillas and unpopular governments elected by dubious ballot-box voting. There's no infrastructure, nationally-owned private sector, or institutes of higher learning or technical training that can benefit the numbers of people who need it. Sadly, the focus has been exclusively on African girls. The future, as always in history, lies with the menfolk. It's their restless lack of options that's the cause of the unrest in the first place.

It's not a place anyone can do anything with but exploit its natural resources. The Dutch and French figured that out centuries ago. Unfortunately the Africans themselves don't get a vote. They're just pawns who don't have the resources or technical know-how to immigrate to better continents or build a middle class in their own state.

From what I was listening to on C-Span radio a few weeks ago, there is plenty to invest.
East Africa has a booming tech industry. Some countries in West Africa could corner the market in salt production. Of course the minerals.
China has invested in Ethiopian factories.
I was watching a vid about diamonds and how Ghana is ranked as one of countries that is hardest to do business in...if they got rid of the corruption and red tape, they might do well.
You also have a lot of Africans who have been educated elsewhere who are coming back and trying to set up businesses and help create better schools and infrastructure.
All is not lost. Just like with Latin America.

Like I said, natural resources. Salt, diamonds, precious metals...raw materials for other markets are all in abundance. That benefits a handful of foreign companies and their corporate hitmen on the ground, supervising slave laborers with black skin who feel lucky to even have a job in those sweaty factories and manufacturing plants.

That's no solution to the continent's problems. It does nothing to resolve the illiteracy, lack of training, PROPER HOUSING and CLEAN WATER, and other essentials that the people there don't have. Swollen bellies and early deaths are still the norm. There needs to be an enormous overhaul from the top before the bottom can start to get a minimal life standard going. And with the economy of the wealthy western countries overheating from the reduced consumer spending & demand in their countries, there's less interest in investing than ever. Sorry man, it's rough right now.

The amount of wealth trapped in Africa's soil is enough to create a new society in every country on the continent south of the Arabs.

Unfortunately, the powers that be line their pockets with the profit margins the foreign companies like Birks allow them to keep. The rest goes into Swiss & Caribbean bank accounts. It's tragic. Do they expect the people there just to stop reproducing and disappear so the nice white men can take all their stuff and not need to worry about giving something back to them? lol
