I know everyone seems to hate the second half of Full Metal Jacket, but I still think the Nam stuff was better than Platoon, which was out around the same time. Neither can touch Apocalypse Now, though. Best war movie ever, all things considered.

Also, Paths of Glory, halo. Another Kubrick gem you'd probably enjoy.

Saw it yesterday, probably Cagney's best. Though Angels with Dirty Faces is a pretty close second.

I agree on all counts brother.....actually I like the second part of FMJ better than the boot camp part, though the boot camp stuff is priceless.

Yeah I watched it too,now I might have to watch Angels With Dirty Faces tonight since you put it into my head!! :D

If you get a chance, check out "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" with Cagney............it came out a year later than White Heat and he is a ruthless cold blooded mofo in the movie, possibly even worse than Cody Jarret.

Absolutely. I own it, Wes. I think I might have all things Cagney on DVD. But Angels has Bogart, too. Roaring Twenties as well. Public Enemy, Yankee Doodle, One, Two, Three, Mister Roberts, got 'em all. Even Shake Hands with the Devil and Ragtime. Huge fan, brother.

Another famous line by those guys,I think from "Underneath The Brooklyn Bridge" was when they cut a kids cheek with a knife marking him as a rat............."let`s give him the mark of the squealer'.  :D

Dead End Kids? Never heard of that one, Wes, but classic gangster lines are all priceless. Even the ones that sound corny in hindsight.

I saw The Wolf of Wall Street a few weeks back and thought it was average.
Over long and over stylised. I didn't know much about it prior to watching it and was expecting it to be similar to the brilliant Wall Street (with Michael Douglas) but instead it was more like a teenage boy's fantasy full of obnoxious characters that got tiresome after half an hour.

Agree with Halo in regards to comic book movies too. Waaaaayyyy to many being made in recent years. Don't understand how anyone over the age of 12 can get excited by them considering that they also re-boot them every 2-5 years. :-\
