Life is so much better when buzzed (not drunk) I think you become truly enlightened during this state.

How do you manage to get drunk or buzzed and not use tobacco?

I'll never understand how some people pull this miracle off. The cigarettes make my drunk 5x more intense.

Why did you previously commit to sobriety?

Strange really. Maybe it was from a bad childhood experience with cigs. I remember picking up a still-smoking butt from my mother when I was maybe 6 or 7. I tried to mimic smoking like my mother. I ended up choking/coughing violently. I have had no desire to smoke since that day.

Brings up my father's story. He says his uncle tricked him into trying beer when he was young. He said it tasted so bad, that he has never had the desire to drink.

Could be on to something.

Because it really isn't healthy (obviously) Plus, it is nothing but empty calories.

But I guess you could ask the same thing to cig smokers.

When I'd get cooked on dozier and it was hot and sunny outside, I'd feel like my world was like the video for Purple Pills. All the cars would be whizzing past me and I wouldn't even notice it. And I'd be leaning sideways while walking. I miss that.

Once you get drunk and smoke a pack of cigs, you don't go back to drinking and not smoking again.

BC he was depressed, drunk and/or hungover. He hates being drunk but likes the process of getting drunk. He's an alcy so he can't stop at "being buzzed" but needs to keep drinking until he's out of booze or passed out.  Then wakes up and tries to remember what he did, gets embarrassed, swears he won't drink again. Then the hang over wears off (or he drinks it off) and starts all over again.

Nothing new here, every lush is the same.  :)

Lush seems to be a northern term.  Anyone have an idea why they call a drunk person. Lush?

Not sure.

But I will say being in Florida makes it harder to kick alcohol use because being drunk is more enjoyable when it's hot outside. Cold winters have a way of blowing your buzz when you open the window and it's -20.

Really? I would think it would be the opposite. I have started to sweat after a few shot sometimes.

You would think a little alcohol would make you feel warm and toasty in cold weather.

Maybe I am just a fat fuck.  :D

It does but the moment you feel the cold, the drunkenness wears off. It's why so many drunks freeze in the winter. They feel warm for an hour then you're a fish stick.

When I was in California and drinking, I enjoyed the experience much more. So I'm glad I don't live there.

Rather than compare your drinking to cigarette smoking and thereby somehow rationalize it, could you explain why you returned to drinking after you proclaimed you were going to quit drinking?
