I broke down and purchased some preworkout supplements
« on: May 08, 2014, 01:11:55 PM »
I'm getting older and the keto diet is starting to wear on me. I have zero energy in the gym and I've skipped a few sessions lately so I decided to try a preworkout supplement. I ordered some beta alanine and Citrulline malate and I'll combine those with the caffeine pills I already had. I hope this improves my workouts.

well they should help depress adrenal and pituitary function while increasing strain on your cardiopulmonary systems...

So you need supplements because your diet sucks? There's no need to go keto unless you're still fat, less than 2 weeks out.

I'm a month out. I have one or two carb meals per week.

You can achieve a lot in 4-5 weeks. Do you know your bodyfat rate?

It works in two ways, you will lose fat and muscle, not for a couple of days, but certainly when you go keto for more than a week. Why not give carb cycling a try?

if you need stimulants at least ditch the 'proprietary' garbage... buy caffeine and ephedrine pills... they are cheap and effective...

i swear one day i will market a 'total workout nutrition system'.... with a specific supplement designed to be taken during each minute of a workout starting 30 minutes before and up until 2 hours after...

sadly, lots of people would buy it...

I purchased pure powders. Nothing proprietary.

I've been doing this for many years. I've tried carb cycling. Keto works best for me. Thanks.

Never had any luck with PWO drinks. Felt jittery, nauseous, and hard crash... I recently got a free sample of HyperMax (I forget who makes it) but its perfect for me.
No jitters, good energy, wears off after a couple hours. (No crash). Since I lift early evening, I would never touch stims (stim sensitive) but this stuff is great.

I only use them when Im dragging (normally a cup of coffee is fine for me) but glad I have this stuff when I need it on occasion...

I dont know anything about the company, but this is the stuff here...

Just bought a new pre work out supp to try : Surge by BioMass.  Was able to get their old formula that has the DMAA in it.

Not sure what to expect.

I only ever felt DMAA first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The feeling was one of "intense focus." Mental blinders, if you will. Food and, especially water, seemed to drastically dilute the effects I felt.

Lots of folks raved about its effects.

It is a vasoconstrictor - not something desirable for training in my book. I also experienced acute, short-lived difficulty urinating when using it. Possibly a side of its vasoconstricting nature? Regardless, not something I desired to continue using.

Get a cheap herbal fat burner that has caffiene and green tea etc in it and take it with 1000mg l-arginine 30 mins pre.

I go 36 hours at a time sub 30g carbs and it gets me through it fine.
