Fighting Klitchko (BEFORE & AFTER)
« on: May 09, 2014, 03:07:07 AM »

The former WBO heavyweight champion has been out of the ring since the savage beating administered to him by Vitali Klitschko at the tail end of 2010. The American was left in intensive care (left) for 4 weeks.

I saw that fight. Was painful to watch. Ref should have stopped it around the 8th round. Briggs was like a heavy bag and Vitali was unleashing straight right after straight right.

Beaten like he was caught stealing cotton.

And yes, I would have taken a dive after the first overhand right connected. Or I would have been KO. But on the ground and not getting up in any case. ;D

Having watched the highlights, I can see why and how the kiltchko's bored us to death in boxing, yes efficient style to win. But Briggs' defence was soo sluggish and took hit after hit...Hollyfield, Lennox, Tyson..etc would never leave an opponent standing for long with such poor defence....as a matter of fact, Lennox fought a much younger Briggs and finished him off in 5 rounds  :-\

Yes but Vitali was an old man himself by the time he fought Briggs. Vitali's fights were actually quite entertaining when he was younger, stronger and more clinical - check out his fights with Hide, Sanders, Kirk Johnson and of course Lewis.
Briggs - Lewis was an interesting fight. Briggs put so much effort to KO Lewis in the first 3 rounds he was pretty much totally gassed at that point.

Like the time i saw a guy coming into a Bar here in Celle called "Popcorn".. was a British soldiers Bar... he was a Turk who started to try kickboxing on a Guy( a Royal Anglian(Poachers).. he got a severe kicking. was funny but then again not funny. Remember sitting watching it drinking my cold Beer thinking what a Fanny i mean the Bar was well known and full of Poachers.

Lots of Turks get a kicking....luckily this wasn't in Germany where there's over a million of them, within minutes you'll have 20 outside trying to get you...guns and knives are not uncommon.

Talking from experience here, I was in Frankfurt where there's lots of american soldiers, saw two very tall american hebrews they looked like basketball players or something, dressed in baggy shorts and stuff and they started doing some stupid dance when lil jon's song came on, they treaded over this tiny little Turkish guy, he tried to hit one of them, and the bigger taller black guy I don't how or with what smacked the Turkish midget so hard the little fucker flew across the room and slid onto chairs and under a table.....never seen mayhem like it after, chairs and tables and bottles and glasses flying everywhere.

I was with two german blonde girls on a table, all three pissed as shit, we tilted the table side ways cow boy movie style and I emptied one of the ice buckets and put it over my head and we watched the show from the corner whislt dodging the odd glass bottle, plenty of blood and dudes getting pummeled and KO'd....left via the fire exit.

Sanders was a beast. The power he could generate from such short distances was crazy. If he was more dedicated and had a proper coach, he could have been something special.

Here is a good article about him:

http://ringsidereport.com/?p=21928

This quote sums him up:

Quote
He never applied himself one hundred percent, and because of that, he didn’t make it to the level that he really belonged. He was born with something that cannot be taught. His left hand was a wrecking ball and he had perfect timing. It’s very easy to imagine him cutting through the heavyweight division at nearly any time in history if he had been motivated, focused, and fought on a consistent basis. He just wasn’t willing to do that.

That fight should have been stopped by the referee early. There was no point in the one sided fight where Briggs took a beating.

Celle is in Germany and there are more kurds here in Celle( Turks and Kurds hate each other) My Brother lives in Frankfurt. was a lot of fighting between Brits and Turks/kurds, the Turks like to use a blade. Not all Turks are bad and i know a few good Guys.

Their opponents are punching bag journey men too. Where did you get that stat because almost every fight I see with them goes the distance? It becomes target practice with their jab.

They have very high KO percentages. Think Vitali had something like 90% before his comeback.
Only problem is their KO's tend to be a mid/late stoppage after a methodical breakdown while Tyson was knocking guys flat out in the early rounds.
Interestingly enough, Freddie Roach said that Wlad was the hardest puncher he's ever trained with and could generate more brute force than even Tyson. On the other hand, Tyson's speed and angles made him more lethal. :D
