Tyson is overrated, he fought a bunch of no names and knocked them out senseless, he peaked at 24.
He looks great on YouTube highlights, but as soon as he fought evander and Lennox he was pathetic.
I loved how the ref stopped the fight after Tyson bit holyfield, Tyson was such a loser during the fight, but when the ring was full of police and security he decided to try attack Holyfield knowing he would be held back.
When your a kid watching mike he is amazing, when you watch the fights now you realise he fought bums.

Yep, only had a few real fights and he lost all of them.
When he got in the ring with someone who wasnt scared of him he folded.
If you watch the touching of gloves of the second Holyfield fight you can see Tyson is terrified.

Terrified? ... ??? donīt think so. I do agree with other comments on here that it was hard for Tyson against bigger guys. However in his prime he was a very powerful, aggressive boxer. Very fast.

He knew he couldnt beat Holyfield, Teddy Atlas actually said if Tyson starts losing he will foul himself out of the fight, he knew Tyson very well indeed.

Haha just as I expected.

Back peddling as usual  :D

No, back peddling would entail me retracting from what I said. I did not.

There's no way for anyone here to compare Tyson with Klitchko because they never fought and the one of two fighters that fought both did so at very different times in their careers.

Hence what you or I say is just an opinion.

And to the anti-Tyson brigade... Back in the late 80s, when Mike was at his best, people like Holyfield did what the majority of fighters with a chance did in that era: Punk out and wait until his form came down.

Holyfield knew better than to get in the ring with Mike back in the late 80s. And he didn't.

Danny Williams and Lennox lewis I believe to be the common Tyson and Vitlai opponents.

Yes good point. Atlas knew Tyson's personality very well having helped to nurture him from such a young age. They did fall out though which might have affected his opinion. As for Tyson vs Holyfield I wish it had happened back in 91 before the rape scandal. Would have been so interesting to see if the result was different.

What I didn't like about Mike is the racist prick version he turned into back in the early 90s, especially knowing that it was a white guy who took him under his wing and made him the best boxer of the time.

And it was a black woman who took most of his money... his life makes no sense.

Yeah, Holyfield, one fighter renowned for his courage and heart would have bitched out of fighting Tyson. ::)

When they fought for the first time, Tyson was actually the massive favourite and many thought he was back to his very best. It was Holyfield who was seen as the one who was finished. Everyone thought it would be a one sided beatdown - but in Tyson's favour. :D

Yeah bro, there's no way to "compare" fighters  ::)

I mean it's just one of those impossibilities in life. It simply can't be done.  ::)

Epic backpeddling because you can't name one fighter Tyson beat who wouldn't get smashed by either brother.

The fuck you talking about? Holyfield wanted that fight from the get go. Tyson fucked up that whole ordeal.

In fact, the first time they fought Tyson was a significant favorite and practically everyone thought he was gonna kayo Holyfield so that throws your little theory out the window as well.

Holyfield was fighting until he was damn near 50 years old. You don't fight til your 50 because you're some chickenshit.

Duran, Foreman, Hopkins, Holyfield. All those guys fought until they were damn near 50. Which one of thoses guys "knew better than get into the ring" with tough competition?  ::)

Again, that's your opinion.

I do not agree and, frankly, I have no time to argue with someone with a rampant case of ADD.

It was all set to go ahead despite Slapper suggesting Holyfield was ducking him.
It was the rape charge that fucked it up.

tyson was a much better fighter before he went to jail

what ever you think of him he had one punch knock out power

so was dangerous against anyone

holyfield was a bad match for him because he tied him up every time he got in range
