What's that hard plastic shit called?

On weight lifting equipment. I know it is a three letter abbreviation but I can't remember what its called n can't find on google. Its the real tuff plastic that protects parts of the metal.

Can you be a bit more specific; what part of the equipment do you mean? Thinking of various parts now, and there various types of plastics used.

ABS is still a bit brittle, though less than it's brother PS. Lego is made of ABS, for example, and those old CD cases were made of PS. They break very easily with just a little bit of force.

The black insulation on the upper part of the metal rod holding up the lat pulldown machine in this picture seems to match his description. It is hard indeed. Would need to check the specs.

UHMW is the other that is used quite a bit now. If it's a power rack or newer machine, it could be that.

POM (delrin) is often used in surfaces subjected to friction. It's self "lubricating", used for bushings/etc.

Protective parts? Probably some form of polyurethane (PUR), which is very durable/wear resistive.

thats exactly wut it is thanks. For the life of me I couldn't  remember the letters. U see it on equipment where weights will hit the powder coating n damage the paint. Its in power rack j hooks so the bar doesn't get the knurling messed up too.
