Are you getting all that from conventional lean protein or just eating what feels right but falls within the macro parameters of the software?

There is no need for such high protein seriously why do people who want to lose weight think they need some crazy ridiculous diet to do it.

Because, in general, most people are lazy and fear cardio more than they fear STD's.

I used to work at a convalescent home, long before my nutritionist/PT days.

The registered Dietitians were always checking Kidney function. Protein intake was always an issue. I'm thankful that I got to learn at a young age.

I built a respectable physique (and most of you have seen pics of me, so we don't need the comments) on very small amounts of protein.

Study the "controlled" studies, and read the Journals of the AMA and such... here are a few excerpts:

"...as many as 20 million Americans are at risk for reduced kidney function but don't know it. Therefore, people on high-protein diets may be unknowingly damaging their kidneys."

"Knight's findings on high-protein diets are published in the March 18 edition of Annals of Internal Medicine. It's the latest chapter in the ongoing Nurses Health Study..." (controlled study, that is the point here)

"They were tracked for 11 years, and researchers found that those with mild kidney problems who ate a high-protein diet especially protein from meat -- had a faster loss in function."

Please don't take this to mean that eliminating meat from your diet will cure the problem, although eating meat has been shown time and time again to increase the probability.

Here is a statement in regards to the Atkins Diet: "We saw a significantly measurable association in those consuming about 1.3 grams of animal protein for each kilo of body weight," Knight tells WebMD. "That level is not as high as the protein you get from animal sources in the Atkins diet. So clearly a person who is undertaking a high-protein diet such as Atkins should have a kidney function test and carefully be monitored while following this diet."

Thanks to the rags, which are nearly 70% ads for protein supplements, bodybuilders and ESPECIALLY aspiring bodybuilders, believe that the more protein they consume, the bigger they will get.

Well then, why are our bodies so good at excreting Nitrogen?

Excess protein is taxing on the Kidneys. There is no question about it. Yes, if you have "healthy" Kidneys, you can get away with a lot... at first. But here's the rub: Your Kidneys are NOT just dealing with protein consumption, so logically, by the time you are nearing middle-age, your Kidneys are NOT functioning the way they used to because of all the other filtering they have to do. For a bodybuilder, this could be solely from your excess food, supplement and pharmaceutical intake. Make sense?

Your Kidneys will always work to eliminate waste and toxic substances. Once they start malfunctioning, they DO NOT HEAL! This is important to remember. The Liver can heal if "situations" are caught soon enough, but the Kidneys? No.

Try a lower protein intake just for your own empirical data. Just for shits n giggles, whatever. Everyone is so afraid they will "lose size" ~ how would you know unless you try?

I know what's coming next, so I'll let those comments fly. Peace.

Cardio is a waste of time (literally) for weight loss, its much easier just to eat less.
an hour on a stationary bike you will be lucky to burn 600 cals.

Not to mention unless you have a good base, you may burn off muscle as well in the process
slowing resting metabolism down slightly

the leanest people at my gym do zero cardio
they just lift heavy and often

For a good while I took honey with porridge and a whey shake for breakfast. Started doing morning walks on beach and would frequently go hypo while walking. I'm talking exogenous insulin use hypo, dizziness, hunger, dry mouth, sweating, limbs feeling wobbly.

Good old scrambled eggs it is now.

I used to do DC training and diet. Protein levels were absurd. Not sure I had any side effects from 400-500g protein per day but it was a scam for buying whey (I sold it so it didn't matter) and I was soft as fuck.

I agree to a certain extent, although, cardio does confer other health benefits other than mediocre kcal burning.

One numbnuts over on UK muscle said that running at moderate pace for an hour burns 800 cals.
Seriously, how many bodybuilders can run non-stop for an hour?

Here's what I don't get. Everyone on the street where I live does zero exercise. They've only seen a gym from the outside. I know because I'm familiar with most of them and never see them in exercise clothing either. Add to that - none of them diet. They eat frozen pizzas, pasta, bread, cheese, anything. And yet quite a few are in their 70s and 80s, and most are 45-60 (it's a quiet residential area for pensioners) and never seem to have health problems.

Makes me question the whole idea that you need to eat clean and exercise to live long.

Most would probably crumble up and die on the threadmill. Watched some Centopani vid, he seriously got winded/out of breath from eating and talking. Poor slobs, hearts probably enlarged to the point that the average blood flow per heart pump is equivalent to that of a hibernating hedgehog.

Nasser died of an enlarged heart and failing kidneys. He looked relatively healthy for 48, though.

My Grandad died at 87.
He ate whatever he liked and his breakfasts were epic, he would start with a bowl of cornflakes, then he had toast and marmalade or jam, an orange cut into segments and then cake and biscuits that were left over from the day before.
He smoked cigarettes and a pipe, went out for a drink at the club every night until his early eighties and when he couldnt get about (asthma) he always had a few whiskies every night.

I can't do all that and get away with it. Already I've had chest pain and my triglycerides are high, and I'm not even 30.
