I dont think it will present any significant changes. I truly believe that ratio to solid cops to shit bag cops is around 75% to 25%, respectively. I might even give it an 80/20 split.
Granted, this is a very hypothetical scenario at this point, but we need to remember that cops are currently very well equipped to take life, cause injury, hell go on a massacre even. Sidearm, shotgun in the car and sometimes an assault type weapon in the trunk.
Even a majority of the good cops sometimes fail to remember the simple fact that a blue, tan, or white shirt does NOT grant you invincibility. People arent just afraid of cops any more.
The biggest issue I would have with a well armored and even better armed police force would simply be the look of it. I dont live in god forsaken mexico, brazil, the middle east, or some other third world turd-hole. I like seeing cops that are well dressed, not a military force that makes me feel like I live in a war zone, but the idea of them being armed to hilt doesnt bother me.
Ive never been beat up by the police, ive never been fucked with in general, because of the following reasons.
-I dont look shady.
-I dont make it a habit to have police contact
-If I do have police contact, I shut my mouth, agree, show respect, and continue with my day.
-I DO realize that there ARE people that want to kill them, so I offer all respect and keep my hands in view, roll down my window fully etc.
-Guess what, I have a near-perfect driving record, I have been pulled over on numerous occasions as well.
