I remember arranging to meet some Japanese chick at a club in Tokyo - we were in the first stages of having a thing going on....

She was doing some Japanese teaching for Chinese working in Tokyo and it was a night she had to teach and she turned up with one of her students - a tiny little Chinese guy.

At the end of the night as I was leaving with the chick, the Chinese guy came up and explained he'd brought the girl there and that she was "with him".

I thanked him for bringing her and explained that while he might have escorted here there, I was definitely taking her back to my hotel.

Fuck knows what the guy was thinking - maybe it's a Chinese thing. Anyway - he was really insistent and I'm feeling sorry for the guy. I would never have hit him 'cause he was barely over 5 feet tall but fuck me was he a pain in the ass. It's as if he couldn't assess the situation at all and genuinely thought that he had "rights" on the chick.

Dating in China must be a real hoot.

It's definitely an Asian honor/respect type of thing.  It doesn't exist in the Western world.
