Why do some lads on here refer to bodybuilding as the "Cult of Bodybuilding"?

Actually intrigued about their reasons for this. Is it because of all the drugs/going to the dark side and all the rec. drugs? Is it because of all the shady g4p stories we hear? Are any true? Is it because of bob chick and the ice machine in the Mirage?

I think it got popular here during the heyday of GH - 15. It was in reference to the whole kitten kaboodle of weird shit that goes along with hardcore competitive bodybuilding you don't understand till you've been around the scene for a few years.

just like strongman.. 99% of the guys who do strongman contests will never, ever, ever be on tv or get any kind of recognition, even in their local papers... yet they train day in and day out for notoriety amongst a few small population who are even aware the sport exists.

just like skateboarding is a sub-culture, or a myriad of other "hobby's"
