MMA is just as tragic as bodybuilding, if not more so
« on: May 21, 2014, 10:16:15 AM »
It's just worse and much more shameful than bodybuilding too. To study the art of damaging other people as a career and for fame and fortune is all destructive and negative energies in the end.

This Joe Rogan character with friends usually talk shit about bodybuilding when what he is into is much more worse, immature and insecure bullshit.

So what you you got to say Joe? We all know you're on this board laughing at bodybuilding Joe!

Richard Perez trainer to the Diaz brothers works out in my gym.

MMA takes its toll on the human body, as does hardcore bodybuilding... and many, many other walks of life.

It's not just sports.

Back in the day, before regulation of the industry, there was nothing in this world that could take more of a toll on your mind and body than truckdriving.

What about prostitution? You think those girls plan on living a long, happy life?

What about the local drunk who sleeps in the streets every night? How's he gonna be next year?

All in perspective, don't really care about the subject line.

you're in a cage/ring/mat against somebody who knows what they're getting into, knows what the risks are, and wants to do the same to you as you do to them.

you could say the same for 'professional skateboarding' or 'pro motoX' or whatever the dirtbike jumper guys are called.... dudes want fame and fortune and risk injury for what ends up to be ZERO dollars for 99% of them.

big deal.. this is America. we can do whatever we want and if we fail, so what? people will criticize you (like little arm-chair quarterback bitches).. and if you succeed, people will criticize you (like jealous, insecure little bitches).... pick which side you want to be on. I'd rather try and fail.

The training MMA guys have to do to be on top, in this era, is insane.

I started BJJ in 1996. At the time, Matt Serra was a Blue Belt. The guy was an animal who could seemingly train 24/7 and not get hurt. Unfortunately, he has recently had some pretty serious health issues as a result of all the training and fighting.  No one gets away unscathed.

I see the sport getting younger and younger, as most guys will be shot by the time they hit their early 30s.

Fighting is ingrained into our culture as human beings. We have had competitive fights since recorded history.

The human physique has also been worshipped for it's beauty. The natural human physique.

Ronnie Coleman would not have made a good Spartan warrior or Olympiad champion.

Even Michelangelo would have said, "Move, freak. You're blocking David."

But it would have been in Italian.

Well known fact that Michelangelo preferred David Henry's physique, good call.

Most fighters in MMA get a pittance, not sure what the revenues are but being on a big PPV card and getting, is it $7k, is exploitation.

Most guys that train in jui jitsu will only compete in submission wrestling. It's an incredibly hard sport. Very few will ever do true MMA. Just like most steroid bodybuilders will never do a pro show. Except that bodybuilders are risking their life and most submision jui jitsu guys might be risking orthopedic injuries.

Yes they go to something called ' mundials' apparently and avoid real fighting.
