A gluten allergy is rare. How it became something that is bad for you is beyond me. It's just a trendy thing to say that you are avoiding gluten.

I find weird things going on with alcohol and young people. I see 20 somethings ordering expensive hard liquor then downing it 0.3 seconds in a shot glass. If you don't want to taste it why order something expensive? On the same line is ordering premium liquor then mixing it with a soft drink or other corn syrup crap. Mix cheap liquor if you going to mix it with a coke.

Red wine stains lips and teeth, beer makes you burp and contains more carbs. Glutenfree beer is expensive.

Still, both taste awful!

I would've thought that beer would be much more carb heavy than wine, but surprisingly they are similar. It varies between wines, of course. You have to be comparing 12oz of beer to 12oz of wine (not the 4oz serving)

For that one bread every forthnight, I just bake it in the oven. Our main carbs are also rice, oats and some potatoes. Though I like to experiment with more unusual ingredients like glutenous rice, teff, chestnut and plantain.

Injera! I love the tart flavor of it.

Lol.  Very true.  I see it often as well.  e.g. I picked up a bottle of Macallan 18 to share at a friends wedding last year (not sure if you're a Scotch drinker; it's about a $250 bottle where I live).  There was a young relative (mid 20's) of the bride hanging around so I ask him if he likes Scotch.  He says, "yeah I love Scotch.  I drink it all the time".  I pour him a nice dram and he grabs it and shoots it like tequila, then grimaces as if he's gonna puke.  lol.  I'm not a Scotch snob; he's entitled to drink it however he chooses, but I don't think the kid even know what was in the glass.

Should've given him a Dewars. I probably would've prefaced with, "this is good scotch"

I don't think people start caring about quality until they're a bit shy of their thirties.

Unless you're me, and you appreciate single malt at the age of thirteen

Even from derived sugars, wow. The food industry has way to much freedom, it says alot about how much governments care about their citizens..
Maybe a bread machine is a good investment?

Sometimes I get stomach problems from wheat bread or wheat porridge, so oat meal & brown rice are my only main carb sources.

Stroopwafels! :P

Took this beeyatch along on a short business trip yesterday. She was 'flubbergasted' [sic] about one particular organic supermarket in Germany: Alnatura. Sithloads of wheat-free food. Dinkel (spelt) everywhere! She went home poor but aroused. ;D

I have tried ALL wines, it all tastes like shit.
Its fucking horrible, many people drink wine to avoid the stigma of alcoholism.
They believe because its wine its not as bad.

Dicks.
I love wine, but wouldn't force it on anyone. If you don't like it then drink what you want. I don't buy the 'acquired taste' bullshit. If that were true, I would by now have acquired a taste for bitter lemon -- which to me always tastes like the devil's earwax.

We have got beautiful wine here.  I also like NZ wine and Italian wine but Australian wine is the best!

Oh God! Australian wines are over-ripped, exaggeratedly oaky, over-concentrated wines for most of them. Had Torbreck's Run Rig, a few different Penfolds wines, ben Glaetzer's bullshit wines, etc.....The only wine maker I found to have some subtelty is Castagna 'til now. And don't get me started with the whites. The day an Australian wine will compare with a great Burgundy wine (Roumier, Dugat, Rouget, DRC Leroy, etc....), pigs will fly high.

Not sure but every time I drink a lot of wine my stomach is on fire. I do prefer the taste and being able to get fucked up easier on wine, however

Sulphites probably. Most low level wines contain very high levels of sulphites but unfortunately some very good ones will also have this problem, whites mostly.

That's the only reason why I seldom buy organic: their prices :o A buddy of mine spends roughly 500 EUR each month, Marqt is his favorite store.
Now imagine when organic foods become the new standard, but sadly we're living in a free market economy..

Heaven...
I'm in heaven...

 ;D

Well, not right now. Eating something with protein (and wheat so it seems) in a road side restaurant was a worse choice over eating something full of carbs (certainly without wheat) I just bought at Alnatura. Still coughing my longs out and sneezing all over the cats...  :'(

You would be able to eat Belgian endive (witlof) and Brussels sprouts! Yech!

I stick to wine coolers. Nothing quenches my thrist like an ice cold fuzzy navel. It's the best of both worlds.

Australian wines are some of the best in the world. Every country has our wine because it's very sought after.

they are indeed, I prefer white wines, glass or two of semillon blanc with a lunch from time to time. Love Margaret River wines.
What I really like though is a glass of fine French cognac after lunch with some nice cigar.

I use to drink a lot of beer and then I started getting indigestion bad from it. If I have any food in my stomach I can't drink beer at all. If feels like its coming back up my throat makes rest of night complete shit. Happens with wine too! Anyone know why this happens? Now I drink vodka water with a splash of juice I never have problems with that.

I miss beer it's cheeper at the bar.

I just burp a lot. With anything carbonated or beer like, I'll squeeze out little baby burps to keep from drinking the carbonation. However if it happens with wine, too, I don't know the reason behind that.
