Memorial Day Training
« on: May 26, 2014, 01:55:08 PM »
With my HS football players. First lift was my son, a 175lb Varsity QB (Junior). The second a 220lb Varsity Center (Sophomore) 445 and 450lbs Box Squat. Five records were broken today. If I would have let him, he probably had 455lbs in him.

Way to blow out the lower back, WTF is all the sitting down and taking all the muscle contraction out of the equation and curving the spine?

Thats probably the dumbest training vid I have ever seen

Destroyed backs before they are 30

No, a squat should be done under tension.

Seriously, watch those lower backs roll without any muscular stability.

Exactly, at the crucial point all the tension comes off the legs and the entire load is transferred to the discs of the lower back

Stupid.

If you think it's stupid then you should explain your position. One of the reasons why we squat in this manner, is to create more power and strengthen the posterior chain as you know includes the lower back.

How much do you ACTUALLY know what's involved in that lift? Would you know how to teach it and cue it? BTW, I LOVE debating this shit.

i would understand it as a touch and go, you use the box seat a reference point on how low to go as soon as your ass feels it squat up, but to sit on it and then squat from a position of taking a shit with a bar of weights on it just feels painful on the lower back ,

i personally just do normal squats , as the legs get strong the weight increases in my workouts , simple but works for me

No "tension" comes off and at no point is any muscle relaxed.

No shit.  All risk, no payoff - except for MPF film residuals.

The payoff is a stronger athlete with less risk of an injury.

They should drastically lower the weight and work on form instead.

That kid on the very right at the start of the video looks like a dwarf and has a dwarf head.

They would all probably get more out of raking some leaves instead.  At least there would be a purpose.  :-\

Who organize this squatting charade?  It's a F'ck joke! Try having these kids full squat a 25 lb pound plate on either side first!
