Glad Germany won. Far more impressive throughout the tournament than Argentina who were good out grinding out victories without ever looking inspiring.

And yeah, Messi as Player of the Tournament is a complete joke. He's been okay. Nothing more, nothing less.

fortunately the Germans scored with just a few minutes left in extra time, otherwise what a joke it would've been, given that:
- Brazil had dropped 11 billion dollars hosting the world cup
- 32 countries had battled it out on the pitch for one month
- millions worldwide were watching the finals of the most popular sport and tournament in the world
... and all that just to have the champions decided by a penalty shootout with each team's goalie guessing where to dive and hopefully getting lucky trying to stop each shot in the shootout.  that would've been really lame. :-\
