What began as a first-appearance court hearing on two counts of violating a protective order in a domestic violence case ended in a contempt of court finding, a 364-day jail sentence and a bond exceeting $100,000.

Ah, yes...it's not "his" fault he violated a protective order and assaulted the person. It's not his fault that is held in contempt and without bond...it's everybody else's fault.
He takes no responsibility for his own actions.

364 days was an interesting sentence.

I wonder if that was just a day under the maximum sentence for that same situation?

he won't do 364. most likely he'll be out in 3 months.

364 is the max the judge can give him for a misdemeanor. most states dont' allow you to do more than a year in county jail, unless in the rare occurrence you get consecutive 364 day sentences.

any more than 364/365 is prison... which is much, much preferable to doing time in county jail. most people (who know better) would rather spend 1yr in prison vs. 6 months in county jail.

well, most likely since he's there for domestic abuse (or something similar, I didnt' read the whole thing), he's probably a life long drug addict.. probably a tweaker with impulse control, and his brain is ruined. 90% of the people in jail and prison are just like him.
