for some reason quebec competitors seemed to get an unfair advantage in the 90's. I competed in the 1991 Canadians. Joe Spinello from quebec won the lightheavy and got his pro card. michelle payette from quebec won the heavys and got his pro card. Jason Marcovicci from quebec got second in the lightheavy and got his pro card. Brian Joseph from British Columbia won the middleweight and overall, beating the above quebec athletes and did not get his pro card.
the magazines were proclaiming that payette would win the overalls for about ten months before the show.
Yep....then it swung to a Toronto area type bias. If MMI, Bob Kennedy, or Greg Zulak so much as farted within 20 feet of you, then you were going to win an overall somewhere.
Geez.....those are some names from the past.
