I've read about four pages of this thread and then skipped to the last bit, so if Ron has piped in, this will be rehashing. Ron is too polite to directly say this to you, of course.
You did a little more than call Ron a schmoe. It was the "What you" era and you basically aggressively implied to Ron that he had contributed nothing to bodybuilding.
You did this based on his appearance, alone - knowing nothing about him.
Quite offensive.
Wasn't long before you pulled back behind the veil of "oh I was just asking", shortly thereafter.
I'm always interested in the sediment of truth about you, Vince - the real truth, the real reasons people like Tony Doherty dislike you. I like to see evidence. That was one example where I saw you actually say things that would make a person dislike you (rather than just arguing with people, here who are giving as much as they get).
