Author Topic: Who has the greatest muscle builder genes, NFL or the Mr O? (Read 1820 times)

It would seem to me (from a statistical point of view) that the paragon genetic elite in regards to muscular size/strength development can be found among the NFL linemen. This would be based on the fact in the huge sample size that is available for an NFL drafter compared to bodybuilding "talent" scouts (or whatever the equivalent is called).
Given the same drug protocol/training as an Olympia contender, would the greatest genetic freak be encountered among the linemen of the NFL, or would the Mr O contesters still be the bigger ones in regards to size?

The only bodybuilder who played in the NFL that I know of was Mike Katz for the NY Jets. He was injured I believe the year before the Super Bowl win.

Lou Ferrigno and the power lifter Bill Kazmaier both tried to play pro but couldn't cut it. There is rumors about someone being interested in Casey Viator but I don't believe it.

I was by the NY Giants when they were training on their practice field. The are monsters. Bigger than any pro bodybuilder that I have ever seen. They were explosive and incredibly fast. Bodybuilders are bloated drug muscles and should never be confused with these elite athletes.

NFL players have better genes than bodybuilders. "Professional" Bodybuilders are mostly the short never picked bench riders who lift weights to overcome feelings of low self worth.

It's difficult to say. Remember that Flex Wheeler, who many have said had the best bodybuilding genes was really skinny, and he did martial arts. Melvin Anthony played football in college. Shawn Ray, football in High School.

There's a pro named Keith Williams who played in the NFL for a few years. Jim "The Future" Quinn spent a year with the Dallas Cowboys. And, Paul Dillett played CFL football.

So, there are a handful of bodybuilders with pro football backgrounds.

Building muscle and possessing the athletic ability to play in the nfl are disparate genetic qualities.

You may possess muscle to be explosive, strong, fast. But that doesn't necessarily mean you can build muscle better than someone who is genetically inclined to do so.

Ramy has interesting genetics when it comes to accruing sheer muscular weight, but the guy can probably barely walk. Huge amounts of muscle is not equivalent to having muscular and cardiovascular functionality.

Dillet wasn't as big during his football days.
