Have the Lakers completely lost their allure?
« on: July 14, 2014, 11:58:40 AM »
It wasn't that long ago that this FA class was supposed to the next Laker dynasty.  The year Carmello, Lebron, Wade, Bosh etc... all are to opt out early and go to the Lakers and now a few years later they haven't signed anyone, lost Gasol for nothing , still have no coach and are going to be a lottery team again.  Kobe will be lucky to play 1/2 a season and the team has no one else.

What happened to them?  They were once the gold standard of the NBA and now no one wants to be within 100 yards of them.  Fuck, the clippers are able to attract more talent than they can.

RIP Jerry Buss, your kids are killing everything that you built.

James signed only a 2 year deal with Cavs, can opt out after 1 year, he and every other superstar is just waiting for kobe to retire or lakers to move him.

nobody wants to play with kobe , with his snitching to his wife or media that you are fucking other girls, with calling players out to wear their big boy pants, shit like that

James opted for 2 years because in 2 years there is a new NBA TV deal which will increase his salary from 20 to 25 million.  If he locked in now he'd lose out long term.

If james left Cleveland again, especially to the Lakers I think the whole state would burn and lynch his family

The league never lets the Lakers stay bad for too long.

They will be back inthe Finals within 3 seasons, watch.

THIS.

Nobody wants to play with kobe.  he's a dick.

mike and mike were talking about it today... saying his personality is offputting to some people... you know what you get with kobe, some like it, some do not.

They dont say this about any other players... its their nice way of saying he's a dick.

You know you're in trouble when your big signing is Jeremy Linn.

I would rate him among the best Asian players in the league.

Lebron cant play forever..in 2 years he's going to be on the wrong side of his career. And yes, that's when the Lakers would sign him for hundreds of millions....LOL

Jeezus are people over reacting to the Lakers.  They are in a rebuilding mode.  It happened after Magic retired, it happened after Shaq left and it's happening again now that Kobe is aging and injured.  It happens.  People need to calm the fuck down.  Today's superstars do not want to join a team mid-rebuild.  They want to go to a team that is ready to win now, preferably in the East where there is little to no competition.  This is why big name free agents aren't coming to LA right now.

One problem in my eyes is that the Lakers are trying to rebuild with free agents.  I think they need to shift gears and start drafting young talent.  That's how they got to the Finals in 2008, 2009 and 2010.  They had KB and Odom, they drafted well and developed young guys like Bynum, Farmar, Sasha, Walton, etc.  They were shit for a few years and in 2008 the young guys stepped up and we were in first place.  That's when you add a free agent like Gasol, when you are on the verge and need a player to put you over the top.

Trying to rebuild by signing free agents like Melo and Love is not going to get it done. First because they don't want to come to a team with a gutted roster and no head coach.  Secondly, even if you did sign one of those guys you still aren't ready to contend because you have very little talent at other posiions.  Also, the entire world knew that Lebron wasn't coming to LA so why waste time hoping he'll change his mind.

True, but 31 ain't 21....everybody ages, and then the injuries start.

It'll have been his 13th season, and just about every season of his went deep into the playoffs.  Not only that, but his career average minutes/game is almost 40...lotta wear on those legs.  I hope LeBron stays healthy and awesome until he's 40, but you gotta wonder how much his body can take

It'll be interesting to see how LeBron can evolve his game if/when his athleticism starts to fade.

Not wishing bad on Lebron, love the guy...but it's almost inevitable that one of these nights he's gonna get clobbered and go down hard, and not get back up.

Lebron will be lebron, great regular season, great first round, okay second round, meh third round and dissapear in the finals.  Even last season when they won it was because Bosh was getting 20/10 a night and Allen saved their asses.  Cleveland will be setup for disapointment thinking he's going to bring a championship there.
