Dude has epic genetics. Must have been the basketball days. I believe that the strenuous nature of a basketball regimen primed his muscles to respond instantaneously to the weights. Sort of like "muscle memory." His basketball training was so intensive, that once he started to lift weights, his muscles remembered the strenuous nature of basketball, and his physique responded tremendously.
